McFarlane DC Multiverse

I got the Cowardly Lot Batman today. This is such a great Batman figure. Between this and the Gold Label Year One, Todd has done 2 of his best-looking Batmans this year. Both Year One and Cowardly Lot feel like they can be used as a "definitive" Batman in a collection or display.

Me too. Love Cowardly Lot Batman and is also my definitive default Batman. No Man’s Land Batman is my favorite classic Batman.

And I don’t know why. I was about to pass on CL Batman. Glad I didn’t. He’s gonna be tough to find down the road.

I'll also state my appreciation for the Cowardly Lot Batman. It was not one that I intended to buy but couldn't pass on it when I found it in person. I've actually done that with several McF Batman figures recently and I'm someone who usually only wants one and only one figure of any given character. The recent No Man's Land was another than I simply decided that I couldn't pass on when I found it in person. Eventually I'll make myself choose just 1 definitive version, but I just can't do that right now. I still have the Knightfall and blue Hush Batman that I still really like as well. I don't hate the first Rebirth version and I ordered the new one with the bundle earlier today. Not proud of myself!!

I have No Man's Land on the way. In addition to my plans to add the wire to the cape (yeah, at these prices, out-of-box mods is exactly what the fans should have to be doing) I think I'm going to try to swap the belt for the pellet belt from my Knightfall. Are those belts separate pieces or is it part of the diaper as all one mold?

Fresh round of rumors from Alex Chen via Instagram:
Prof. Pyg
Batman Animated Playset
Need a Saint Walker / Larfleeze more than a Jessica Cruz personally. I'd rather get a quintessential Scarecrow (not the Superfriends looking Silver Age looking thing incoming) than Pyg. Batman Animated Playset I assume is the reissued bat cave. Great for those who have always wanted one, but I don't have the space.

To quote Ernest Scared Stupid: "There's nothing in that tree for me."

I definitely want Professor Pyg. But I would get Cruz Green Lantern too even though she isn't Bat related. I've bought all the other Lanterns in this line. I do wish Todd would let out Saint Walker and Larfleeze.

I think I will actually get the Bat Cave Animated Series Playset. I always regretted not getting it when DCC/DC Direct let it out.

I’m not a huge Green Lantern fan. Several reasons I won’t go into. Suffice it to say I find the concept redundant. Alan Scott was a unique character. Hal Jordan and friends are just interchangeable uniforms to me. I also hate the Guardians.

With that attitude, I generally only buy the human Lanterns of Earth. And that’s usually only to fulfill various Justice League lineups. And with Jessica, that leaves only one more prominent human Lantern to go. Jo Mullen. Maybe the girl Kelli (Teen Lantern) too. Charlie Vickers would be a very dark horse/deep cut selection. Star Sapphire would be awesome too.

Got Azbats and Monarch. Both are cool figures. I feel this line makes armored characters well because the proportions can work better.

Azbats is so nostalgic for me because I loved the old figure. Great armored sculpt.

Monarch is a powerhouse character and has a design that I’ve always liked. Nice to finally get a figure of him. He was too expensive though. Wish he had extra hands like fists. And maybe an energy effect for this price.

Has McFarlane made a Superman Prime figure?

Larfleeze and Bleez would be my most wanted Lanterns after Jessica.

And c'mon, Sapphire.
It always surprises me that Todd didn't go deeper into the Lantern Corps. Especially Yellow, Red, and Black, since there's a ton of gnarly looking aliens and dead folks, which is right up Todd's alley. I really love the Blue and Indigo tribes, so it's a major bummer Todd never got around to them- even though she's a woman, I feel Indigo-1 is one he'd gravitate toward.

Same with the Lantern Deputies- seems like pretty easy variants to do for most. I'd have really loved a Yellow Lantern Scarecrow, but I wonder if I'll be able to cobble together one from existing pieces after the classic Scarecrow releases.

I mean, heck- you could theoretically have a whole line of just Lantern corps members- there's certainly enough. I know GL's popularity isn't at its peak right now, but hopefully when the Lanterns show releases, it'll see a little surge. But of course, by then, it'll be too late for McFarlane to do anything about it. Would be nice if he could cobble together a Lantern box set of the leaders before he loses the license, but that's the longest of long shots.

Has McFarlane made a Superman Prime figure?
Yes they did!

I got my notice from MTS that Obsidian and Mr. Bones shipped!

In fairness to Todd, he might have shied away from the spectrum of Lanterns due to how those seemed to have sold for both Mattel and DC Direct / DC Collectibles. Those were easy to find cheap for a very long time. I enjoyed them all and still have them all, but they were either over-produced or not as in demand as other waves.

Mr Bones and Obsidian were the first figures I ever ordered directly from McFarlane... hopefully mine will ship soon.

My main objection to the Green Lantern Corps is that ACAB includes space-cops.
😁
I like the crazy aliens though and I like having a Lantern in the Justice League. Hal’s my least-favorite Earth Lantern though: “arrogant, thrill-seeking womanizer” would be one of my least-favorite character archetypes. At least Guy’s loathsome macho swagger is framed as bad behavior. Paradoxically, I buy all Hal’s action figures, though: he’s a classic.

I’m sure WB/DC is still MASSIVELY gunshy about GL merch though, after how hard the film and the merch tanked back in the day.
