McFarlane DC Multiverse

I can't decide which version to keep! I want the Silver Age head but I don't mind the brighter, more orange look. Thoughts?

Lots of McFarlane DC Multiverse pre-orders this week! I pre-ordered the Armored GL, Cowboy Batman and Eradicator bundle from McFarlane to use a $20 coupon. I missed the EE case that had the 2 Hank Henshaw Cyborg Supermen in it so will have to get him another way. I also missed the Gamestop Bizarro. I know there are several going up tomorrow as well including BvS Alfred, but can't remember what else off the top of my head.

I decided not to kill myself trying to pre-order Eradicator, mostly because I do not like the way they made him overly buff with no neck, my mind's eye sees him as more lean. I would have much preferred that they used the classic smiling Superman body. If it's gonna be hard to get Cyborg Superman and Superboy, I'm probably just gonna skip them all and wait for Mattels line to collect the Reign Of The Superman characters. I'm happy to have Steel in my collection even without his Reign brothers. I dunno, might still grab Eradicator if I see him on the shelf.

I took a little too long to put in my order for Gordon at MTS and now it's sold out just a few minutes after going live. It seems to be a MTS exclusive.

Update 1: It sounds like Gordon will be available as a Walmart Gold Label exclusive as well but I can't find him on the site yet.

What I did find on walmart.com was Nightmaster for anyone interested. It says only 4 left in stock right now:

Update 2: I found Gordon on the site but he's either not available yet or already sold out:

Year One Part 4 Batman:

It's not impossible that these are intended to part of a Walmart Collector Con down the line rather than going live today like they did on the McFarlane Toy Store.

I was hoping to grab Gordon but was on a call. It feels like the last few rounds have been some of his best figures but also weirdly hard to get. At least if Gordon is a Walmart exclusive there's a 50/50 chance they'll never release the preorders but he'll become in-stock at some random date.

I ordered Alfred from MTS. I used $20 from my rewards and the price came to $15 & change. Since Eradicator was still available, I did the same thing. 2 separate orders and both figures for $31.

According to EE the final suit Riddler from Batman Forever is the chase with the Alfred case along with a bronze Batman 89. I'll look for that when it comes out.

It seems Todd is making stuff I'd be interested extra hard to get. Cyborg Superman and Ridder both chases packed in with EE cases, both are sold out by the time I hear about them. I won't miss this nonsense.

Yeah, the line it temping down any regrets I might have as they're finally releasing figures I really wanted by doing classic McFarlane shenanigans to get them. I'll always prefer lines that take my money, hand me action figure and don't gamify it.

Yep. The biggest thing I WON’T miss about Todd is the shithead 90s-collector-boom “chase” grift. It was never cool, not 30 years ago and not now. Multiverse has put out a surprising amount of fantastic figures, in my opinion anyway, but the whole way through I’ve had to hold my nose at Todd’s anachronistic petty collecter-bro tyranny.

Yes, I hate the whole chase nonsense.

For anyone interested, CMDStore got a lot of new DC figures in stock. I just placed an in stock order for KC Superman, Silver Age Two-Face, both Silver Age Doctor Fates, Starman Platinum, Damage Platinum and went ahead and picked up both the Digital Silver Age Superman and Platinum Mr Terrific while I was at it because they were on sale / marked down. I was disappointed that they were sold out of the Platinum Two-Face, but it is what it is. I was still thankful to get some of those other platinums.

I thought I had read somewhere that the Red Platinums were "in-store only" and wouldn't be sold online, like...that was the entire schtick behind the "red platinum" sticker. So I didn't even bother to look at the EE case in regards to Cyborg Superman, I assumed that was a "needle in an in-person haystack" sort of deal. Is that not what Red Plats are? At any rate, it's basically an ebay exclusive so I'll look there after it releases.

Trying to stay on top of new releases for a youtube channel is expensive work. I missed out on all of the preorders this week because I'm still recovering from previous purchases. Makes me wonder how the big channels do it without going incredibly far in debt. I will not miss the variant stuff, and this is coming from one of McFarlane's bigger defenders. I hate having to chase (pun intended) everything down. I understand the store exclusive stuff because I understand the business reasons behind it, but that shouldn't be unique characters. Exclusives should be Electric Blue Superman at Walmart, Electric Red Superman at Target. Blue Azrael Batman at Walmart, Red at Target. Figures based on games at Gamestop, things like that. Gordon, at any rank he holds, should never be an exclusive because he's a unique character. A variant of him could be exclusive somewhere, but not the main one.

Especially at Walmart. The store that just slashed the space to find the product in the first place, who just relegated it (at least at my store) to a single peg at the electronics section. To quote White Goodman, "go ahead with your jokes, Mr. Jokey Joke Maker. But let me hit you with some knowledge. Quit now."

Although, the license is gone as of next year so I doubt anyone over there cares lol

My understanding was also that Red Platinums were supposed to be obscure type characters. Shining Knight and Damage make sense. Jade, Cyborg Superman, and Mirror Master do not. I wonder about this calculation.

Been OK on acquisitions this week. Got Cowboy Batman and Eradicator from Todd. Got JL Batman from CMD but missed Hourman and Conner Hawke. Also missed Bizarro due to a meeting and missed Y1 Batman because I didn’t check Todd’s store in between refreshing the Wal Mart app. I’m trying to preorder as much as possible to make hunting Red Platinums more viable. I also grabbed Cowardly Lot Batman from CMD because he’s far better looking than I thought.

I’m also not counting Todd completely out as of 2027. The move to the collectable section along with “Not a Toy” being printed on some releases is Todd trying to create his own niche. And the fact that they are supposedly still negotiating leads me to believe that at the very least, DC seems to believe Todd still has something to contribute.

... or "still negotiating" is Todd's way of keeping people engaged with his product and buying it thru the end date.

No harm in keeping hoping... but I'm pretty sure Mattel specifically does not want to share with McFarlane Toys. I will absolutely shocked if Todd is allowed to continue making 7 inch action figures.
