McFarlane DC Multiverse

I just saw that the Strange Lives of Superman figures are going to be Target exclusives. That's disappointing. It's probably 50/50 whether I'll ever see it now. No Target near me ever stocked Geo-Force so I had to pay nearly double retail on ebay. I had better recent luck with Batman 1000000, Connor Hawke, Hourman and the movie Batman with Batpod though. So we'll see. That Batman 1000000 figure might be my favorite Batman figure that McF has done by the way, even though it's obviously not Bruce. I want the Plat and likely multiples of the Strange Lives of Superman figures though, so the store exclusivity really bums me out.

I thought about buying a case. I’d get Superman Red for sure and have additional bodies for all the heads. Ultimately I decided against this as I’ve no real connection with any of that goofy SA stuff outside of respecting the creativity and creators. But I still want Superman Red for my Multiverse. Found Kendra late last week. Still no Shayera. Eradicator has proven elusive.

I visited a Best Buy and multiple Gamestops, Targets, Walmarts and comic book stores last weekend hoping to find any of SA Bizarro, Hawkgirl, Jade or James Gordon and found none. I'll try again this weekend. I've got Cowboy Batman, Eradicator and Armored GL pre-ordered from McFarlane Toy Store but no movement on it yet. The only one of those that I've personally seen in the wild is Cowboy Batman at Gamestop.

For those who have him, what are your guys' thoughts on Cowboy Batman? I dig the look/idea of it well enough; I always thought that idea of Batman through the ages- caveman, pirate, cowboy, etc. was really cool. I saw one in person at Gamestop the other day and it looked a little wonky. Not sure if it was the softgoods duster or the hat, which looked a little warped by the bubble. Just looked a little plain overall, but for those who have him, does he feel worth it, or would it be better to wait for a sale? Any ideas on dressing him up a little with other accessories (besides a horse)?

Cowboy Batman is on the Jonah Hex buck. Looks kinda like he wearing old style longjohns. The duster is bad. Thin vinyl. I need to see if the Captain Boomerang coat fits. Likely it’ll be too big though.

Walked into Walmart during my lunch break and they had completely redone the Electronics aisle for collectables with shelving instead of pegs and had a lot of Multiverse figures. 2 Jade, 3 Gordons, 4 SA Bizzaros and a boat load of CE figures. No Year one Batman though so I grabbed a Jim Gordon and headed back to work. Smart reuse of Constantine with a few tweaks of newness and most incredibly a gun! I had to see it with my own eyes to believe it! Is it oversized? Yeah somewhat but I'll just pretend it is a .44 Magnum and can blow your head clean off and call him Dirty Jim Gordon. 😁

I wasn't a big fan of him, myself. As Tommy said, his coat is thin and his outfit is sculpted strange. Here's my review of him, if you skip through it you can see some good video of his (cheap) outfit. Todd's been killing it lately, but this one isn't it.

When I found all the new figures at Wally World today I must say I was disappointed to see that the classic Bizarro was on the old AC 1000 body so he's not as big as SA Superman. Todd has hit so many figures out of the park lately that seeing his shenanigans like this pop up again is beyond frustrating. I'll probably still get him but the new 52 Superman and Bizarro go so well together as they are the same base body. Come on Todd. A year to go lets not do this anymore please. This my only hesitation on getting Year One Batman. He looks and moves great in the reviews but he is too short. Sigh.

Thanks for the tips on CowBats, guys. Definitely looks a little rough, but on the plus side, that probably means I'll have no difficulty getting him down the road for cheap. He seems like a figure that folks will be offloading pretty frequently.

After being disappointed when seeing Bizarro I found the Classic Dr. Fate today. I am overjoyed with him and the yellow and light blue just pop. Another favorite that looks like it jumped right off the pages of the comics.

Does anyone see this guy around for cheap? I just need the hands.

That's a neat looking random nameless enforcer type figure.
As for the movie, I wonder if the fact that he's got Doomsday goggles means anything. Probably.

Movie Lex Luthor coming May 28th. Movie Superman went up a few weeks ago, sold out right away. Movie Mr. Terrific and Robot #4 coming sometime.......Jesus. What happened to just releasing a wave? Why this slow trickle over many, many weeks? At least they are kinda-sorta being released around movie time (a lost art form where Hasbro is concerned).

This was my cranky post of the day.
