McFarlane DC Multiverse

Longer form interview with Todd, he covers the line ending at the END of 2026 and why Nicholson's rights are a a minefield (you can tell he doesn't want to just say "I've already been sued once for millions guys"). But I'm heartened to hear that he mentioned just asking the Nicholson organization directly being an option. I think if anyone could do it, it's the guy who pays millions just to get a baseball to get noticed by MLB to sell toys of their players.

Work was shit today, filled with bad news, crying kids, arriving at 6am and staying until 7pm.

But I stoped at Target after and found the full Batman Returns wave, including Shreck! My biggest want of the year checked off. At least the day ended well.

Ultimately, all the “inside baseball” just doesn’t matter much to me.
Someone is making cool DC toys?
I’m probably gonna buy them.
I’ve got no interest in “rooting for a team” in terms of who makes them: just the product itself.
Then again, I’m also not really interested in “finishing” a collection: I sincerely hope I am buying new Batman toys for the rest of my life.
I’m certain that at some level, this will be achievable for you. At least I hope it is.

Believe it or not, I’m not interested in finishing a line either. When I finish, I lose interest. So I want something stable and ongoing. In my view, the DCU as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s not rooting for a team so much as a desire for consistency. Changing vendors every few years doesn’t get us there. Marvel Legends has produced one line through two vendors over 25 years.

Switching back to Mattel and throwing Todd out is another restart. Which in some ways is kind of ironic considering how many times DC Comics has rebooted.

As I said, I’m sure Batman toys will be around in 20 years. But will the JSA have toys too? Will someone make another Captain Carrot? Or another Black Condor? Doubtful.

C’mon Primal Force (not kidding)!!!
