McFarlane DC Multiverse

I don't really care at all about the Avatar, Fallout, Sportspicks or Marvel statue stuff.

It looks like there are multiple good Flash figures coming. Larfleeze and Ice look good. Black Condor and Gangbuster are super exciting additions to the line but since they're Platinums who knows how hard they will be to get. Still they're the best of these reveals in my opinion. Jessica Cruz also a Platinum, of course. Blackhawk, Cosmic Boy, Elongated Man and Professor Pyg will all be figures that I will want. As are Zatanna / Detective Chimp.

The Image stuff isn't surprising. I knew that he'd have to find a way to try to replace those DC sales. Since they're Elite editions they're likely going to be super expensive though. I'm intrigued, but I already have figures of all of these characters even if they're quite dated now and would be easy to upgrade over. I can't see myself spending $60 each for these though.

I'm still salty about missing Blackfire and Dark Flash this morning. So much so that I cancelled the orders I was able to put in with Walmart for the Flash Batcycle and animated Man-Bat. I decided that I didn't want to reward them by buying stuff from them that I only kind of wanted when I wasn't able to buy what I really wanted. I would have bought Batgirl, Blackfire and multiple Dark Flashes if I was able to.

McFarlane actually does really good work outside of the DC line (and on most of the recent DC line as well to be fair). It’s just hard for me to support because of my frustration with their gimmicks.

I’m not sure if it’s the lower (or complete lack of) licensing fees or better creative teams, but the other lines remind me more of early DC multiverse. They’ve got more unique sculpt, better paint apps, etc. I would guess the Image stuff is going to be pretty good. I also really liked that classic Spawn figure. Always wanted one but never could bring myself to pay Kickstarter prices.

Out of the DC stuff I saw, I’m in for Rocket Red, Zatanna, Blackhawk, Professor Pyg, and Elongated Man. TBD on Jay Garrick. Were actually getting close to a complete mid 2000s Justice League but it stinks to be missing a proper Green Arrow and Hawkman.

Stinks that both Flash figures appear to be repaints with those skinny wrists. Was hoping they’d just kitbash the torso of Superman Blue onto those old Flash legs for a proper figure. Hate the proportions on that mold.

So gonna grab a few of the new things they showed off (assuming I can)...

Rocket Red
Ice
Black Condor

Gangbuster is a maybe...

Low key more interested in the Inage stuff he showed.

Yeah, the reveals were kind of meh. I was expecting a big final hurrah.

I missed out this morning as well. TNI reported going up at 10am ET so that's when I was online about 15 mins before. Then I went to Reddit and saw went up around 9am ET? It's okay, not even mad just disappointed that TNI gave out wrong info. I did receive WW vs Godzilla today from GameStop. WW looks to be the best looking WW ever done in this time and age. However I can't justify paying this much for just WW. It was a FOMO thing and now that has worn off. The set will go back to GameStop next week sometimes.
Well I guess I'm keeping WW. My daughter when she got home saw the big box on the table and when she saw WW she blurted out Dad, she is beautiful. I told her my issue with the purchase and she reminded me I already have Batman and Superman which I got on sale at the time. She said well you paid full price for WW but got the Batman and Superman for almost half price and she completes the Trinity. I said okay, you convinced me I will keep her then. The she hugged me and I said you want her don't you and she said yep and I started laughing.

Well, he didn’t top Marvel Legends, but he did pretty well regardless. 15 DC figures shown, and I want 13. And there are still Platinums to be revealed. Gonna pass on the Rocket Red army builder and Larfleez. I like everything else. But the Red Platinums are getting out of hand.

Image is intriguing, but possibly not at what will certainly be a premium price point. I’ve always wondered why Todd didn’t do this from the start with his Image partners. Being that there is a nominal Image Universe, Todd could make this go for a while. But without the Invincible characters, licensed to Jada and in a different scale, it’s far less interesting.

Ghost Machine is interesting. As a creator collective, I’d imagine that Geiger is the first of many if he does well. Even if Geoff Johns makes his way back to DC at some point, Ghost Machine seems to have legs and a measure of longevity.

And still no definitive news on Todd’s future with DC. I’d appreciate putting an end to the speculation and uncertainty.

NM, found it. Man, between Image Founders and Ghost Machine McFarlane has me by the short and curlies for awhile. Honsby and Halo 2-Pack! Would love to see them do family friendly angel and devil.
