McFarlane DC Multiverse

It’s nice to hear that the 7” line might continue through DCD. Not counting on it or holding my breath, but it’s good to find out it’s still in negotiations. I won’t be surprised either way. DC turned DCD over to Todd for a reason. DCD has run parallel to Mattel for nearly two decades. DC itself may not want to pull the plug. Or abandon its adult collectors to just one vendor. And just speculation on my part, but what if Todd throws in with Lunar to get DCD back into comic shops on a regular basis. Like the old days of DCD/DCC?

Be that as it may, rumors are dropping off the rumor list that I keep on my phone left, right, and center. My pet peeve about it is that most of the time when I see that someone has found something new on Instagram or Reddit, they never tell you where they are. Like it’s proprietary information. I assume California where the containers usually come in from China, or the Las Vegas area where Todd’s warehouse and distribution center is. Except that’s not the case a lot of the time. Distribution patterns are virtually untrackable it seems. I’ve noticed that anything heavy on Batman usually goes to Wal Mart first. Personally, I’ve got the best shot at Page Punchers locally at GameStop for some reason. Target is a crapshoot. Best Buy is a waste of time.

So now we wait. Todd’s NYCC panel is a week from tomorrow at 4:00 PM Eastern. Can’t imagine we’d see a whole lot more before then.

Toy Shiz had a pic on FB of Batman Returns figures hitting Target shelves. The wave plus two Shrecks were pictured along with Peacemaker.

Yeah, I saw someone found this wave and the new comic wave with Scarecrow, Riddler, etc. in California, which means they should get to my neck of the woods in about 2-3 months. 🤪 Exciting to see they're on the way, though; hopefully MTS starts shipping them soon. It's good to see that Shreck isn't just exclusive to GameStop, so hopefully some folks will have an easier time getting him. But street dates continue to be the bane of our existence. Nothing kills a collector's desire to shop somewhere faster than finding something and being barred from buying it when you have the money already ready to go. Really feels like some of these places don't wanna make money.

Also, alexchentoynews on Insta, who's always good with leaks, posted that we're getting a re-release of the Bane megafig in the BTAS colors. Not super in-need of it, but if I ever see it for cheap, I may try and slap some paint on it for a B&R Bane. Totally out of scale, I know, but may be the only way to get him in the line at this point.

Add Cheetah and Extant to the platinums that I need to chase down. Guardian as well.

It's odd to me that we got Hank Hall as Extant and Monarch before we got him as Hawk. Now in fairness I've got figures of him as Hawk from other companies that I'm perfectly happy with and I didn't have him as either of these identities before - so I'm not complaining.

In addition to Emerald Twilight Hal and GITD Bane, Walmart Collector Con is going to have Jokerized Supes and BTAS Man-Bat. I'm always in for more Man-Bat, but none of those are a need for me.

I'd be all for McF to be able to continue to do some figures under the DCD label. Competition amongst manufacturers is always good for us as consumers, but I'll remain skeptical until it actually occurs. I'm still expecting any future output from McF on the DC side to be in the form of statues (he calls them "posed figures") like he's doing now for Marvel.

Since they’re still talking about it, two possibilities exist:

1) They actually are negotiating something.

2) Todd is stalling. Knowing that when he puts out a statement telling us that no more 7” Multiverse style figures are coming, sales and preorders of remaining product will drop precipitously.
