McFarlane DC Multiverse

Mainly for budget and space reasons, I tried to stick exclusively to just Batman figures, but that Joker is pretty tempting, such a classic look.

I’m OK with the hat being sculpted on, makes for a more streamlined look, and there are plenty of other options without the hat.

It’s kind of strange that as we near the end of the line, Todd has yet to make a true bronze age, Neal Adams Batman. He’s come close with a couple of other figures, like the Knightfall one, of course, but not right on the mark. Here’s hoping he gives it another try before next year.

Sad that this has to be asked but, do you think these figures will come with any accessories at all? I mean, I guess fists are mostly a sure thing for Supes. Joker, as pictured, looks awesome like everyone says, but does he have anything besides the coat? Are we past the days where a removable hat or an alt head with no hat is way too much to ask without a significant price hike? Superman looks fine but is this the tenth time we've gotten this buck with a tampo S and slightly different shade of blue? Am I getting greedy for wanting more than bare bones?

Not at all! I'm just wondering if Todd will let me buy these at all.

Joker is tempting - I swapped heads between Silver Age and the one with Punchline to get a modern, less grotesque version, but this version has that good face I like.

And I really wonder if this will be as close as anyone gets to Nicholson Joker.

Wish there was a tier to just get the two Harleys, no interest in Letoker, but to be fair, 70 bucks for two figures is kind of the going rate right now for most lines so really it's like getting an unwanted figure for the price of postage. I don't think the figure at least in the previews looks like Margot but I'm actually not worried about that since really what I'm looking for is a Harley that'll scale well with and look nice with the other Gotham City figures. In this market, 70 bucks for all in is (I can't believe I'm saying this) a bargain. Is this one of those cases where Todd can charge less because he's not dealing with a middle man? As much as I knock him for other stuff, the guy does know how to optimize his profits.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever done an Adams Batman production figure. Not sure if it’s out of respect, intimidation, or the fact that Neal might want a royalty. And I know he’s passed, I’m guessing his estate would want a piece. Gotta be an explanation, I just don’t know what it is.

Only thing I can think of is that for you Batman only guys, it might be your “Holy Grail” and mark the end of your collection. Or at least the last Batman you ever buy. Which is the last thing any of these companies want.

With a comic included, accessories will be limited. Probably.

I have a feeling you’re on to something here.

For me, it would not be the ‘end all be all’ figure, because there are so many comic-based looks that I would still want, even some that have already been done (Capullo, Kelly Jones, Jim Lee, Marshall Rogers, Aparo, etc.).

For many Adam’s Batman would be ‘The’ Batman and finally give the fan base what it has been looking for forever. Quite possibly ending that pursuit of the ultimate Batman. I can def see that.

Mine would be an Aparo Batman, McF have got as close as anybody with Nightfall but not quite the svelte long eared yellow oval Batman of the Brave and the Bold years.

“Done” buying Batman figures??
Does not compute.
There is literally no Batman figure that could possibly be released that would ever make me say “I’m done”. Oh no. Not for Joker either. Never, ever.

Speaking of which: that new Joker headsculpt is absolute nightmare fuel and I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Yeah, while I haven't gotten my perfect Batman in any line other than MAFEX (I"m not even that big a Jim Lee Batman fan, the Hush design they did just ticks all the boxes for me) there's plenty of characters I"ve gotten my "grail" / ideal version of I'm still buying ridiculous variations of. Wolverine, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Snake Eyes, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, pretty sure I'd call the Frazetta Girls Conan my perfect version and I just got the Loose Collectors one like some kind of addict...

Then again my only available cure for a growing sense of existential dread is action figures, so that might be the underlying problem.

There are way way WAY less healthy coping mechanisms in which you could be indulging, trust me.

For me, part of the fun of action figure collecting is always being there for the latest versions of characters I love. I don’t want *a* Batman: I want to collect Batman my whole life! Hell, as long as I am able, I’m always up for a new line of familiar characters.

Can someone help a Camel out? That Batman Incorporated Batman went up for pre order a week or two ago. And it's such a cool looking Batman figure. But it has that yellow hue around the bat symbol on Batman's chest. Did Batman's bat symbol light up on his chest in that comic book? Seem very un-Batmany, because it's not very stealthy.

At first, I thought one of the figures accessories was a flare, and maybe they painted the yellow around the symbol to look like light from the flare reflecting of his chest.

But then i read the accessories list, and that's not a lit flare, it's a gas cannister.

So, why the yellow hue around the bat symbol? I looked at pictures of art from the Batman incorporated run, and I never saw the symbol lit up on Batman's chest.
