Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

These really look quite good! And will they actually be on shelf in time for the movie? If so that would be really great. *stares towards Marvel/Disney/Star Wars and their weird restrictions around Hasbro.*
Wouldn't that be great! A symbiotic relationship between a movie studio and the companies producing its merch?! What a concept!

These really do look way better than I expected. Actually the battle cat looks like quite an improvement over revelations. It’s quite a bit leaner and looks like it has more articulation to it. Double jointed female arms is extremely welcome. I’ve been wanting butterfly joints for a few years now too.

If we find out the waist is a double ball instead of a swivel, i will be very excited

So, thus far:

He-Man
Teela
Man-At-Arms
Ram Man
Battle Cat
Skeletor
Trapjaw
Tri-klops
Evil-Lyn.

Not a bad lineup, so far. But I definitely need to see some more of the beasties.
Who else do we know is in the film? We saw Beast Man, Roboto, Fisto, Spikor, Sorceress, Mekaneck, and Goat Man in the trailer. I'm pretty sure Moss Man was cast too. And Adam's parents, naturally.

I don't love Battle Cat's helmet. What's up with those huge panels sticking out of the sides? Obviously I'll wait to see it in action, but the face sculpt is superb, and I'd have no problem displaying him without the helmet.

Sounds about right, so far.

And Stephen Adentan has indeed been cast as Moss Man.

I don’t think I’ve wver had a battle cat who’s helmet in completely happpy with it. Usually looks weird and/or it doesn’t sit securely on the head and is really finicky.

Unless you're Gal Gadot.

This cracked me up. The likeness on the revised version was SO MUCH BETTER that I still have it in my collection. The 2015-2016 era of Mattel and Hasbro thinking they could slop on paint and we'd buy anything did not end fast enough.

That said, the likenesses on He-Man, Evil-Lyn and Teela are not great. He-Man's hair is good but that's not really his face shape. Still, props to the PR team for getting the actors to do this.

Yeah, that likeness does look quite a bit like the actress that plays Teela. I honestly think all of the likenesses are good to decent. the only one that feels wrong is as people have said, Evil Lyn. The flesh tone and the no expression blank face all make the sculpt look very bland and doesn't capture the look/likeness, features, or beauty of the actress who plays her.

Also, hearing all this about Damian cumming, turning his bust thrust to full throttle got me thinking.......is that why it snowed so much hear today? was that........was that snow?

i did notice that the teela figure has a separate neck and head so ah have really good head articulation… no waist cut though

Huh - that Teela close-up does look a lot better than the photo being used in the group shot. The one Camila is holding looks like the good version, so okay - hers is good.

I think it's to protect the animal's ears, as a lot of armor was shaped in ways to make weapons like swords and spears glance off rather than taking a full hit. However I don't remember a Battle Cat with these wings ever before and upon first viewing I thought it looked like he's wearing a Red Light Therapy mask of some sort. Honestly Battle Cat has always had weird face armor, even as a kid I always wondered why it had a horned looking nose like a griffin or something. I think in this case they would have been better off with a direct translation of the 80s design or just borrow from the Mike Young design that looks more like a sabretooth cat helmet.

I was fine if they just didn't have the helmet at all also, but I'd wager he's going to be charging through crowds of enemies too so it does make sense for him to be armored about the face. Just not in love with the ear protector wings.

These look fun. It would be cool if they got on Hasbro's level with the face printing, but the import style articulation could be great, assuming it's functional.

Hoping this is a sign of things to come for their DC line as well.
