Received my wave two via EE today. They do not disappoint, I might even like them better than wave one.
First opened was Tygra. He wears green translucent armor (that hopefully is explained in the comic I haven't read yet). The mask is reminiscent of both Boba Fett's helmet due to the eye cut out, and Grune, for some reason, maybe the large canine teeth? The chest armor is asymmetrical with one big spiked right shoulder pad, and a spiked left strap, this time reminiscent of Panthro's harness. He has armor for both thighs, a fur loincloth with a gold belt, gold bracers, fur boots swappable with his standard boots, and his signature bolo whip with a real rope, but plastic sculpted bolo.
Tygra's paints are kinda sloppy, specifically the light beige pretty much wherever it shows up - the face, his feet. He has a grin that looks like teeth should show, but it's not painted white, just the same beige. That wasn't impressive. His orange fur also seems light, and his leotard over his torso is gray, which also looks inaccurate to me. Should be more of an aqua color. He has removable wraps just below the elbows, the right one of which is an elbow pad. Maybe I'll give him another look with the armor, but as a standard Thundercat, he misses the mark.
Panthro is on the larger Battle Cat-Man body, so he stands taller than the others, just slightly. I always pictured Panthro as just slightly shorter than the other male adult TCats. He wears armor evoking Man-At-Arms' details. An abridged version of the vented armor at the top of his chest, the asymmetrical armor on his left arm and right shin. He has a spiked bracer on his right arm and a belt with a sculpted cloth loincloth. The left arm armor has a large peg at the end for two swappable weapons, a chained mace, and an axe, calling back to the Roboto/Trap Jaw gimmick. He came wearing his standard boots, but packed behind him was the fur trim boots. They look identical to Tygra's, but the fur on Tygra's comes to a peak, and Panthro's are even around the boot top. This corresponds with the fur boots that came with Lion-O and BCM. Panthro also comes with his signature nunchucks with a plastic chain.
Of all the Thunderan armor gimmicks, Panthro's is the best. It more overtly pays homage to a MotU character, but is also functional and more fun as a result. This is one I'm tempted to get a second copy just to display with the armor.
He-Man is a nice variation. He comes with his standard armor and Thunderan cat-themed armor as well. The latter can fit over the former. He comes with a generic looking round shield with large teeth sticking out of one edge, removable brown wraps for his right bicep and thigh, and an amalgamation of the power sword and Eye of Thundera (which is closed on one side and open on the other). He has his hair tied back, and so loses his signature bangs (which I don't mind at all) but also, he looks more like a generic barbarian when his standard armor is covered by the cat-themed armor.
He, BCM, and Skel-Ra will exist as is. But the Thundercats will don their classic looks. I could totally consider this a complete collection, having the core TCats and Mumm-Ra, but now having them all, I want them to explore more of these characters! Maybe the other adult TCats Pumyra, Lynx-O and Bengali? How would they handle the Mutants? The card art shows amalgams of Panthor (like BCM) and Tri-Klops with a more triangular eye fixture. Would they handle some of the evil warriors? If they never do, I would still be VERY satisfied with the collection as is. Total win in my book to have these properties smushed together.
