Masters of the Universe: Origins

I got Cartoon Randor along with the 200X PoL stuff. He was the the first thing I opened. Only flaw is the swivel cut at his calves for where boots would normally go. Break the sculpt in an ugly way. The rest is pretty perfect. Can’t wait for Queen Marlena.

I did get 200X Wave 2 and Ram Man as well as Filmation Randor in from BBTS. All of these are great, but I am loving these 200X toys. I do hope Mattel continues to give us Filmation like they are doing now with Randor and Marlena. But I am really enjoying this change of scenery with the 200X figures.

It almost makes me forget Mattel STILL hasn't finished the vintage MOTU toy collection lol. But we just got Dragstor and Multi Bot is coming. So, they are getting close.

Just Stonedar, Blast Attack, Blade, Gwildor, Saurod, and of all things Two Bad still to go for what's important. How on Earth do we not have toy Two Bad. Madness.

I wonder if Mattel will do the tops Twistoid and Rotar. They aren't as crucial to me as the 6 remaining action figures, but make no mistake, I'd buy them.

Man, I mentioned over in the Star Wars Black Series Thread how annoying it was to change my e-mail on Hasbro Pulse. Well, our friends at Mattel, specifically Mattel Creations win. I had to get in touch with them to change my e-mail and they said I could not do it. It's not possible to change it or carry over my order history or membership if I create another.

So, I have to create a new Mattel Creations page and buy my MOTU membership for $10 all over again. This has led me to come up with some new slogans for Mattel in my free time. Here are a few options I've workshopped.

"Mattel. We hate you, and it shows"
"Mattel. Billion-dollar company, 12 cent technology"
"Mattel. The "M" is for masturbate, because we're jerk-offs"

This one is a bit long, but

"Mattel. You've been a lifelong supporter of our merchandise and specifically the Masters of the Universe brand, but that loyalty means nothing, and we will try to make everything about your collecting as difficult as possible until the day you die you sniveling cock sucker. Eat shit. A big bag of shit. But please, keep buying our stuff :) "

I've been saying for a long time that Mattel is too rich and too stupid to know how much richer they could be if they were smart. It's just an INCREDIBLY badly-run company at basically ever level that matters. But not being able to change your email address in your account is a whole special level of absolutely fucking amateurish stupidity.

Did any of you pre order the new Wave of 200X Origins figures today? They are up if anyone needs them at BBTS and such. I pre ordered 1 Deluxe Clawful, 1 Zodak, and then got 2 each of Skeletor and Prince Adam.

All of these look really fun though. I can't wait for Teela to finally show up in a Wave, and I really want that Deluxe Roboto.

I POed at BBTS. Had to do Clawful separately because his listing wasn’t up or visible when I ordered the other three. They have an ETA of late January, while Amazon’s listing says APRIL. I don’t understand the discrepancy. Like the first two waves came in at BBTS in such quick succession, and pretty soon after the POs went up, while Amazon still hasn’t gotten either wave in stock to my knowledge. Are they meaning to give BBTS an advantage?

I don't know. It's very odd though. But I've ordered all these from BBTS and like you said, they have come in fast right after the pre order went up. So, if BBTS says late January, I fully expect them then or sooner. So, to anyone wanting these as quick as possible, I'd pre order from BBTS and not Amazon.

I can't believe Wave 3 will already be in January. We have amassed quite a collection pretty quickly for the 200X sub-line.

I haven’t even opened the first two waves. I might as well wait for the third wave to arrive, open them all at once!

BBTS might be shipping them to the US themselves, and Amazon is waiting for Mattel to get them here and shipped to them.

In the latest of news, I for some reason was dragging my feet opening up those latest Mattel Creations figures and finally had an hour to do it. Swiftwind is, for Origins, magnificent - like clearly not as good as a higher-end line but I don't mind popping Swiftwind on the shelf with other horses in my colleciton. She-Ra from this set demonstrates why posing figures in the plastic shell is fucking stupid though cos one of her legs is a bit warped. And nobody's figured out translucent plastic for toys, have they? Her hair and sword feel tacky and are a bit warped too.

Red Shadow - I know nothing about this character, I just have a thing for wolfman characters. But I really like him! The material his head is molded in is a bit squishy and I worry the paint will scrape off, but he's just a neat little figure. I like building out those other MOTU settings.

Sting-Or was another impulse buy, actually added him to the Red Shadow order to try for free shipping. Again, surprisingly neat figure for someone I didn't really care about. The tail is a lot better articulated than I'd expect from this line.

Overall, aside from the warped sword and leg on She-Ra, pretty good haul for a line I've kinda stepped back from a bit. Though those 200X figures do look tempting.

One day, when the prices come down, I'll probably try to grab Wundar and He-Ro, and then probably be completely done with this line since they're clearly not interested in those of us that stuck with them specifically because they said they'd finish the vintage toyline.

"Dear Damien, please understand that you will take what we give you and like it. Otherwise hit the bricks. Sincerely, Mattel."

I think we all should just accept that they were pissing on us and telling us it was raining. Probably why I have all but walked away from MOTU outside of a select few figures I really like, or getting stuff on deep discount. The recent Creations sale with the 30% extra off made it easy to get Sting-Or and a second Swiftwind. However I passed on everything else because I either already have it and don't care to spend more for another (though tempting at less than $15Cdn for an Origins figure in some cases), or I don't care enough about the ones I don't have (Sharella, Red Shadow).

I am waiting to see how the movie does because if it is successful ($500+ million box office) I could see a resurgence in interest for MOTU figures from non-fans like what happened with Transformers. However that is a wait and see scenario and hopefully some of the stuff I am looking at still will go on sale before any possible spike in interest.

Me too.

I said Mattel's MOTU team wasn't getting more of my money for at least a really long time because of this bullshit and I meant it.

This is exactly why I have been trying to pick up and complete Masterverse stuff at a breakneck speed. If I hate the movie, at least I can sell what I have. If it leads to a resurgence, at least I am somewhat on the ground floor and not paying arm and leg to get caught up.
