Hey I just spoke to Mattel, they said....."You're welcome." They totally sounded sincere.Oh thank god... they won't stop making one Origins figure every three months and charging triple the original retail value for it. We are truly blessed.
Nothing says "successful line" like putting it on hiatus for other lines. As much as it hurts me to say it, the MOTU x Thundercats line is probably dead. They had that one pic recently of what looked like a possible Monkian figure and nothing has been seen, or mentioned, since. Who would have thought starting a new line by rereleasing two of the same figures one after the other with minor differences would not be a big seller? So, it's being stated that Origins will NOT end or be replaced by the new Movie 5.5" figures The First Ones. Origins will continue. Mattel did say that the Origins crossover stuff would be completely put on hold during the movie year. So, Transformers/MOTU and T-Cats/MOTU will be put on hold for 2026. They said they may revisit those and other crossovers next year or beyond.
I'm glad Origins will be continuing.
Listening to Pixel Dan's final wrap up of all things MOTU, it honestly sounds like Wave 3 of the Cartoon Collection 200X Origins figures might be the last Wave of those we get this year. Because like Masterverse, it sounds like they are on pause as well. It sounds like 2026 will just focus on the Movie product at retail. I hope we still get Roboto and the leaked Waves 4 and 5 we know of at some point for 200X.
I hope if the MOTU movie is successful, which I think it will be, Mattel continues Origins and Masterverse next year and on until another movie comes around with the inevitable sequel. (Again, if this first film is a success.)
I'm sure we'll continue to get Origins stuff on Creations though. We are due for another figure on Creations next week
As.. new figures or actual re-releases of the originals? I could have sworn they said those are some of the original molds they don't have anymore.I just really wish we’d gotten the Preternia dinosaurs as re-releases.
I mean Origins versions. I didn’t think any of the Origins stuff was based on original molds.As.. new figures or actual re-releases of the originals? I could have sworn they said those are some of the original molds they don't have anymore.
But also... man, I wanted the giants and a turbodactyl in Origins -so- badly. And we still don't even have Two Bad or any of the three 'toy' movie figures.
No, it wasn't. But Mattel DID do a few re-issues of the actual original vintage He-Man and Skeletor (and Battle Cat... and maybe something else?) so I wasn't sure if that's what you were talking about.I didn’t think any of the Origins stuff was based on original molds.
