Masters of the Universe: Origins

I especially like how the line only existed for like 5 years and they managed to get away with -doubling- the price about 2/3 into the line. That's really cool and makes me want to collect everything, for sure.

Did it even take that long to raise the price?

What stings even more for us here in Canada was that Walmart started the line up here at par with the US pricing. Then Walmart seemingly dropped the line and pricing was back to the usual exchange rate(+). The second sting was MOTU being abandoned at regular retail brick and mortar. Now the only way to get MOTU up here is through online etailers. TRU had some product for a time, but they are going to be gone soon anyway and EBGames ditched MOTU a long time ago.

That leave Amazon as the only "regular" retail option and they are hit and miss on what they sell in Canada.

I've almost never seen an Origins figure available from Amazon that I couldn't get for 25% under retail price locally because it's always the shit figures no one wants.

For Canada, no. Our price doubled in, I think, '22. So somewhere between 1.5-2 years into the line. But for US pricing, I think the price basically doubled once they essentially became online exclusives.

And to your point; yeah, collecting this line has basically always fucking sucked in Canada. We missed entire waves. Our pricing skyrocketed overnight. Mattel has zero respect for the Canadian market at all and never has.

Received Marlena from BBTS. She is so lovely. Continuing the trend of undersized females though. I will likely never display her as Captain Glenn. But she really makes me want a Cartoon Collection Sorceress. She and Battle Cat are easily the biggest holes in this collection.

I like the Movie Origins scale figures. They look good, and they look fun just like the Chronicles line. And it's nice they will be in scale with the Origins line toys. Hopefully we get a Battle Cat and Castle Grayskull out of this scale/line.

Man, I just noticed something. If you look at this pic on toynewsi, you see a 200X Origins He-Man right next to this new Movie He-Man (to his left). The Movie figures look a bit smaller than the 200X He-Man beside them. You can just barely see the packaging and some of the 200X He-Man figure to the side. But it's enough to tell the size difference.

Behold.

Origins Cartoon Collection are fairly close to 1/12 from all the in-hand stuff I've seen (I'm still waiting on good Evil-Lyn in-hand to see her size exactly), so I guess they're making them smaller to properly differentiate from Chronicles? As that's also going to be closer to the 1/12/6 inch we expect of most domestic lines.

That would be the 5.5" line of movie figures, by the way, that some people were convinced Chronicles was.

They look fun - actually a lot more detailed than I expected from the kids' 'Origins-adjacent' kind of stuff. Good chance I'll pick some up if they're easy to get. But also easy to pass on if, like most MOTU product in Canada, they're basically online-exclusive.

Walmart just canceled my 200X Samurai He-Man.
Son of a bitch man. I'm sure mine will be cancelled too then. That's Man At Arms Masterverse and 200X Samurai He-Man right in a row. I HATE Wal-Mart pre orders. I'm sorry that happened NORM. I can't believe such a massive, big, wealthy company can't handle things better.

I fully expect Masterverse Teela and Mer-Man to be cancelled soon too then. Hopefully, we can all find them at retail or online reasonable.

EDIT: Just looked, my Samurai He-man is cancelled too lol. I'm gonna remain calm. Gotta stay off that No Fly List baby.
