Masters of the Universe: Origins

For those who are Club Grayskull members, there are some teaser pics of Hurricane Hordak. Check your e-mails for the link. I think after He-Ro we all assumed he would have Vac metal like armor, and he does indeed have it in the pics.

There was some concern for a minute we'd only be allowed 1 Hurricane Hordak per Club Grayskull member, just like with what happened with Vultak. But it was just a mistake, and we can get up to 3.


I can't wait to have the vintage collection complete in origins. it's something I talked about a lot on The Fwoosh. I really don't need the Giants or the Laser Light He-Man and Skeletor since they weren't released here in the US.

Make no mistake, if they make em, I'll buy em! But I really just need what was part of the US released vintage MOTU line.
 
Man, I got shipping soon e-mails for the Wave with Frosta, Invisible Skeletor, and Buzz Off from BBTS. They still haven't got in the Wave before this one with Faker, Leech, and Catra. Oh well. As long as I get them, I don't care what order they're in.

Has anyone received the Wave or got a shipping soon notice for the set with Faker, Catra, and Leech?
 
Thats cool. It's always nice finding them live and in person. I have the Faker wave pre ordered at BBTS as mentioned, but I also have 2 extra Fakers pre ordered at Amazon. Just so I have one to display with the alternate, normal He-Man head that comes with Faker, and one to put the normal He-Man head from his original release on this Faker/He-Man body.

Well that answers my question. I got notice on Frosta and Buzz Off and was wondering which other figure I was missing out on. I figured I missed the cut because I thought Leech was the other but it's actually Invisible Skeletor and I didn't order him.
 
The Cartoon heroes are sparse. Skeletor’s group is really filled out. Horde is just starting out but growing fast. But the heroes seem to be falling behind. Would like to see Sorceress, Fisto, Battle Cat, Moss Man, Sy-Klone, Lizard Man, Mekaneck, Roboto, Randor and Marlena.
 
So who's getting Hurricane Hordak when he goes up?

I like the look of him, but I have no attachment to that version of Hordak so I'll wait and see if he is still available later this year. So far it looks like Origins has fallen off on Mattel Creations. It used to be quick sellouts, then it was that Origins figures would last maybe a day. Now more and more they are still available days/weeks/months after release. It could be that the gas tank is empty on Origins outside of the few remaining "must have" mainline versions of characters (Two-Bad, etc).
 
I don’t think Origins is dead, they just keep stalling on the figures people are requesting, until they use the excuse that interesting has faded before they could release the figures people are requesting.
 
The slow trickle of actual characters from the vintage line combined with the cost of shipping them one at a time has killed whatever momentum they ever had. And I say that as someone who is pretty much all in on this line.
 
Yeah, I agree. Mattel is taking forever finishing the characters from the vintage MOTU collection. And this slow pace of release and having to pay shipping each and every time is getting annoying. And it does feel like they've lost a lot of momentum both at retail and on Mattel Creations.

I'm sticking with it though, because I have been pretty much complete with this line. And I'm sure they are just moving slowly on release right now because they want to have a lot of offerings next year when there is a MOTU movie. I'm sure there will be a MOTU movie line, but I'm sure Mattel has plans to do all sorts of Origins, Masterverse, and Mattel Creations products in a movie year.

Still, I just want to secure these last characters from the old vintage line.
 
Hurricane Hordak doesn't strike a nerve with me. Vultak didn't either but he was so DIFFERENT I picked him up anyway, but one or two good Hordaks is enough for me.

Unrelated, I wanted to get free shipping for a Masterverse figure from Walmart and saw they had flocked Panthor in stock so I was like sure, that'd be fun to add to the collection! Nope, shipped me the standard one. Now I get to either deal with Walmart's return policy or try to find some way to use an extra Panthor. Who is, FWIW, maybe my favorite character in all of MOTU, but the Origins one isn't impressive enough to want a second copy. I suppose I could use it to test out a cool wash or drybrushing to make the purples pop more.
 
I'm jealous of all these concept sketch figures. I'm this close to ordering them. Wish they'd do stuff like that in Masterverse.
