Masters of the Universe: Origins

Regarding the remaining vintage figures: For me it's the principle of it. They told people that had been supporting the line and wanted to finish the vintage line-up that they would make sure it happens. They need to be held to that, in my opinion.

Didn't the MOTU team switch out a while back? I don't think it is the same main guy for sure. I don't remember his name but I haven't seen him in any con interviews or Mattel presentations in a while. He was the one who made that promise if I remember correctly.

Mattel should 100% honor it still and I'll be upset if they don't do what they said they would do, but just wondering if that has been forgotten with the change.

Josh works at Jazwares now. He hasn't been on the MOTU team for at least a year-ish?

But yeah, I definitely take those kind of things as brand mission statements from Mattel, not personal promises from Josh or anyone else (as I imagine they wouldn't be allowed to say something like that if it wasn't part of Mattel's overall strategy). So at some point, it would seem, that strategy was simply dumped in the trash and they're going to pretend they never said it.

I strongly doubt it was just forgotten about because A) there's simply no way that everyone working on MOTU isn't aware that's what MOTUO fans wanted, B) there's no way everyone working at MOTU didn't know this was promised and, C) as I said before it was almost certainly something that was part of the corporate plan, not just an intra-MOTU-team thing that Josh said without talking to anyone else. If it doesn't happen, it's purely because Mattel and/or the current MOTU team don't give a shit about what they promised.

Shameful behaviour, really.

I'm sure he didn't make the promise without the go-ahead from a higher up but with the way these corporations shift teams around and change their plans based purely on satisfying their shareholders they could use him as their scapegoat since he's no longer with the company if they wanted an out from their original promise, especially if it no longer made financial sense.

They'd better not, but they sure are dragging it out.

Oh definitely. Realistically, though, I don't even think they need someone to blame. Mattel has dropped off the map in terms of customer engagement. They don't even talk to or acknowledge any of us anymore. So really, they can change directions whenever they want and who do they even need to answer to about it when the four or five people with direct access are too chicken shit to ask any questions or make any comments that you couldn't hear at a Trump cabinet meeting: "Hey Mattel, Shill here with ToyNewsPlace! Can you tell us why you guys are so great and just how Mattel has managed to be so special and give us so much great stuff at such a reasonable price? Also, please make Mosquitor in whatever line you do next after cancelling the one everyone is currently enjoying!"

On a more small-scale note, I got the Cartoon version of Catra troday from BBTS and they really did a great job with her face paint apps. Just a genuinely nice figure. I hope we do get more from the She-Ra side of things before teh line dries up. I figure Bow, Kowl, Switt Wind are all non-starters on the Masterverse side but maybe they'd throw us a bone on the Origins side with the simpler design and smaller scale.

I was thinking about the 200X news for Origins and I realized I would love for them to do a King Grayskull with Battle Lion. I know another "Cat" in Origins is not something they are probably considering with how poorly Battle Cat and Panthor sold, but maybe an exclusive? If they ever do consider it I would hope they improve the articulation.

The thing I most want from POP in the Cartoon Collection are the Twiggets. They were #1 on my wishlist from MOTUC for years and that never came to fruition so I'm really hoping that we get them in Origins this time.

I was just thinking about the Twiggets last night when I was looking at my own wishlist. I feel like a Kowl pack-in has got to be possible somehow (maybe with Bow?) but it'd be nice to see them drizzle in a few more POP characters in the line for fun.

Definitely need them, Kowl, Loo-Kee, and Madame Raz/Broom. Getting Madame Raz in Classics seemed like the pinnacle of my collecting years at the time. I wanted her so badly as a kid.

I love all the POP stuff we got in the Classics line. It never ceases to amaze me. As we got characters like Madame Razz and Broom, Light Hope, Sea Hawk, and General Sunder, it was almost like it was too good to be true. That's why I don't think Classics will ever be beat. The number of characters we got was incredible. Hate that we didn't finish New Adventures toy lien characters though. I do hope we get more POP figures in the Cartoon Origins Collection. I especially want Adora, Glimmer, and Bow. And I absolutely want Loo-Kee, Kowl, Razz and Broom.

The Cartoon character I always wanted from Classics and hope maybe we'll get in origins is Dragoon. Dragoon was such a menacing looking character.

My most wanted in Cartoon Origins are Strongor/Strong Arm and The Sorceress.

Sounds like Target's summer Geek-Out event is starting June 16. Mentioning it in this thread because I believe one of the weeks last year had the Stranger Things/MotU 2-pack and the ToG 2-Bopsteady figures first go up during that time.

Summer Geek Out is the one Neca doesn't participate in, right? Just the spring and fall? I don't remember it being as stressful as the others because there wasn't nearly as much stuff to buy. 2-Bop was definitely part of it last year.
