Masters of the Universe: Origins

I've mentioned this before, but I've grown a rather intense dislike of the 'announcement about future announcements' thing. Announce lines that you aren't ready to show off or actually talk about with ANY level of detail. Announcing the names of films (if that) that will be coming sometime in 2028 but you can't talk about them at all yet. Announcing that there will be a teaser trailer for a video game, the teaser trailer itself being basically an announcement of a CINEMATIC trailer (so, 3 announcements deep and still no actual game information). I'm just sick of it.
Shut the fuck up until you're ready to show me something interesting.

And also, very telling that NOT mentioned was a re-commitment to finish the vintage line for Origins.

I generally appreciate knowing when cool stuff is coming. The anticipation is part of the fun for me. I loved and miss the days when NECA's Randy used to do that online all the time.

But I also dislike the trailer-for-a-trailer thing.

Those jackasses who doxxed Randy really fucked things up for the rest of the Neca fandom. It was always so much fun getting info and teases directly from him. He answered so many questions for me over the years and now nothing. But I don't blame him at all.

Interesting to see a heavy 200X focus for Origins in 2026. Along with the Cartoon Collection continuing. I'm going to try and be positive and assume that they will still continue to trickle out the remaining toy characters we are waiting on by sprinkling them in once a quarter (maybe six months).

Not that I actually believe that, but I am trying to be positive.

First off, I did get Despara today. I grabbed x2. Like an idiot, I got on an hour late. Despara went up at 11:00 EST, and I knew that. Yet still, I set my alarm for 11:55 so I could get on at 12:00.

Thankfully, she was still available.

2nd, the news out of London. I knew with a Movie they'd have to do some kid friendly price pointed toy line. And I'm honestly really interested to see what it's like.

I also figured they'd incorporate the new movies look into Masterverse and Origins. But they didn't mention Origins, just Masterverse. I hope EVERY Masterverse figure in 2026 isn't based on the motion picture. I want to continue my Masterverse collection of New Eternia and Vintage looks. So, hopefully there are a few of those here and there along with the Movie figures.

Origins sound fun next year. Cartoon stuff still happening with 200X. That's cool. However, they didn't mention at all finishing the vintage 80's MOTU toyline. Which is my highest concern at this point in Origins. I am kind of getting sick of how long this is being dragged out. And I'm kind of sick of being forced to get on Mattel Creations at least once a month to get all their exclusive offerings. Especially when those offerings aren't characters needed to finish the GD vintage collection.

Vintage! Now Mattel! Dragstor, Two Bad, Blast Attack, Stonedar, Multi-Bot, Gwildor, Blade, Saurod. I don't even give a shit about the two Tops at this point. If we get Rotar and Twistoid, great. If not, fine. But get me those final 8 unique character figures.

For me I'm not even too concerned about getting the vintage movie figures. Just Dragstor, Two Bad, Blast Attack, Stonedar, and Multi-Bot and I'm good. I also really want a Filmation Multi-Bot since we've never had one.

I have no interest in the 200X looks, so maybe that will save me some money next year.
I think I am in the same boat. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the 200X looks. However I don't know that I am dying to get them in Origins styling. If anything I would prefer them in Masterverse as that would be more akin to how they looked originally.

Yeah, not everything works on those puffy Origins bodies. I’d have preferred 200X figures as Masterverse scale. I have less connection to 200X but I guess once I see prototypes, I can make a better judgment.

Not much from 200x would translate well to Origins. Just look at what they have made so far. Passable at best.

Like pretty much everyone else so far, 200x in Origins does nothing for me. Part of what made 200x so good was that it was familiar yet reimagined and putting it back on the same style body as the vintage line kills that for me. Same reason I wouldn't want New Adventures on the Origins style body if I had my preference (and if they were actually going to make New Adventures figures). They just don't go together.

I may change my mind when I see the figures in that style but the He-Man and Skeletor they already did weren't doing it for me.

I would take 200X if they were fully sculpted like the 200X designs, but with Origins articulation!

Same. The only thing I hated about the 200x line was the horrible articulation scheme. It still frustrates me when I try to pose Mekaneck and realize that to have his neck extended I have to have his waist turned completely into an unnatural angle and also why are all of the figures thrusting their crotches at me suggestively.

Regarding the remaining vintage figures: For me it's the principle of it. They told people that had been supporting the line and wanted to finish the vintage line-up that they would make sure it happens. They need to be held to that, in my opinion.

But personally, from the main US-available part of the line, I only want Two Bad and Blade (I love movie-accurate Blade, but also I recognize movie-accurate Blade is probably the only version we're ever going to get anywhere else and this is probably our only chance ever at a toy-accurate Blade remake). But also, I want the giants. It seems like such a waste that they made new 'giant' bodies for TMNTxMOTU and WWExMOTU but absolutely refuse to make Tytus and Megator.

Shameful, really. The success Mattel has had with this expression (so many vehicles, at least two - probably three or four before it's over - playsets, dozens of figures) is directly due to the fans of the vintage line. Mattel owes those fans more than just 'sorry, we got bored with that.'

As for the 200x stuff... I mean.. we already have it? Not sure why anyone would expect any different from the two (three?) He-Mans and the Skeletor that we already got. It's almost assuredly just going to be MOTUO bodies with 200x-style accessories and armor/heads. Maybe they'll switch it up and use the Cartoon Collection bodies instead of the vintage-inspired bodies? I suppose it's possible they'll make a whole new body that's a little more angular, but I'd be surprised.
In fact, you'd think they would want to keep using the MOTUO bodies they have because A) they already have them and Mattel is cheap as fuck and B) they want to tempt people to grow their existing collection and making the new figures markedly different means they're an easy pass for a lot of people that want a uniform (MOTUC-style) collection.

If they use either the MOTUO or MOTUO-CC bodies, I'll probably get Tri-Klops. Not sure how many other 200x looks I actually care about. That show and its designs remain some of my least favorite things ever in MOTU history.
