Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

Yeah, Origins and Masterverse were huge for Mattel. I mean... Origins got TWO Castle Grayskulls, Snake Mountain, ETERNIA, Fright Zone, Sky Sled, Wind Raider, both horsies, etc etc etc. Origins on its own was a pretty massive toyline over a fairly short period of time. And Masterverse did really well also. Masterverse seems to have lost a little bit of steam since burning through most of the major characters people want, sometimes several times. But that loss of steam is, again, partially intentional as they start holding back a little bit for the movie.

Buuuuut... they've already given up on Origins at retail, and mostly given up on Cartoon Collection at retail, and are transitioning to 200x so they can sell the main cast again. Masterverse just released yet another MAA and Teela - so they're swinging back around to 'let's do the main characters again' as well. If the movie figures don't do well, it's absolutely possible MOTU figures will take another rest.

I think they are just careful with how much MV they release a year. I mean we have had an ok spread, its just not as nuts as Legends or even Classified.

This year is:
NE Panthor
NE Moss-Man
Vintage Skeletor
Vintage Stratos
Vintage Man At Arms
Vintage Faker
Vintage Zodac
NE Roboto
NE Randor
NE Beast Man V2
NE Ninjor
NE Terror Claws Skeletor
NE She-Ra
Movie Blade
NE Teela
NE Kobra Khan
NE Hordak
NE Mosquitor
NE Mantenna
Anti Eternia He-Man

That's 20 figures including 2 deluxes, which isn't too bad. I dont think that indicates a line thats ending, just a line they take carefully

It also feels like less because so many of those haven't hit yet, or have only hit selectively. I'm still waiting on five of those to ship. Having almost a third of your regular releases for the year be Walmart exclusives is a sick joke!

I received Mantenna today from BBTS and I think he got overhyped for me. I’m mildly disappointed. First, he really is huge. I think he’s too big. Second, I’m glad he has all four legs, but they can barely do anything. The range of motion in the hips, knees, ankles, is all so limited. I don’t like the gap between his head and neck. I’m surprised he doesn’t come with a standard Horde bowcaster. There’s a lot it gets right like the versatile eyes, the new weapon, overall sculpt, but nearly as many misses.

I saw someone do some repainting on the mouth and making the eye stalks look gorier that helped it a lot for me, but he is the one of the three Im least excited for. AE He-Man looks the best IMO.

Anti-Eternia He-Man is the gem from this Wave. It is an amazing figure. NORMally, I'd agree with NORM, because it's the NORM. And I do agree even, I feel Mantenna should be much smaller. He is always a short and spindlier little creature, who doesn't rely on physical strength, but his abilities with his hypnotic and stunning eyes.

But since this is New Eternia Mantenna, I like to think for this new, unique take they decided to make him a big hulking creature, insect like monster to make him stand out from his usual look. Which is weird, because they went the opposite for Leech in New Eternia style. They made him smaller than usual for his new, unique New Eternia look.

Still, I'm loving all these NE figures. They are doing great with the Horde, but I eagerly await more Snake Men after that perfect Kobra Khan.

Actually, I don't think Leech is New Eternia/Etheria? Wasn't he released under the Princess of Power subline? Hordak got releases in both, so there's still hope for a new and improved Leech!

I really liked the Leech they would've had in the CG show if it had continued. Maybe too much of a divergence for the purists though.

This is correct: Masterverse Leech is explicitly Princess of Power.
I’m sure we will get a big scary Leech in New Etheria, Grizzlor as well.

That's pretty cool cmoney. I'd never seen that art. Modulok is freakin' insane! But I really like that Leech as well. I really liked that CG cartoon. I bought all the figures from it. I would have loved it to have gotten to those characters.

Also, my apologies. I forgot that Leech was just POP and not New Etheria. That's exciting though. Hopefully we do get a great big, hulking Leech.

Would I be kicked off this board if I said I'd prefer they at least give the option of a Grizzlor with sculpted hair instead of soft goods? HYPOTHETICALLY.

I liked it too. Here's the rest of what got shown at the time for what would've been season 4 (Hordak did appear briefly, I think?):

Whoa, Stonedar is crazy! All of those look like a lot of fun and would have made great figures. I really like that Sy-Klone, and I think it's awesome they were going to do the Unnamed One in the show.

Hordak and Moss Man did get figures, so because of that I was aware of those looks. But I'd never seen the rest of those.
