Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

For me the only issue is the head is a tad small. Look at the proportion of head to torso on the vintage figure and then onbthis new one. The ratio is off. If the head on this new figure were about 15% bigger it would be perfect.

The problem for me lies more with that overly puffy torso they keep using. That throws off proportions in my eye, and it even winds up being too tight for armor in some cases, namely He-Man himself.

Thankfully, I haven't been interested in the vintage Masterverse figures. I like the New Eternia ones better overall. Vintage Teela doesn't look good to me. And Merman looks like he's had his chest ripped open to expose some raw flesh underneath.

and he's VERY shocked by whoever did it to him!

RE: these Vintage bodies, I like the puffy chest but the arms and legs look like sticks by comparison. They're not even the same thick legs as Skeletor, they're the old Masterverse legs. Why?

Definitely all valid critiques. I tend to set my expectations for this line, but they could certainly use better articulation schemes that are standard on so many modern lines. And I'm feeling it with the off-center overlays too. Something about Hordak's hood is not sitting symmetrically with his head and it drives me nuts. One of my Teela's has a weird off-centered pelvic overlay, that or her right leg isn't plugging all the way in or something. Unintentional asymmetry is a total idiosyncrasy for me.
Mine has that same problem! It's like the right hip doesn't fit into the body far enough. Big gap that I can't seem to fix.

All I can say is that I hope that Mer-man gets a significant upgrade from that stock photo to actual product, which, to be fair, does happen with Masterverse; or, at least, almost all Masterverse looks better at release than they do in photos like that.

But woof. Mermy’s not looking so swell.

Vintage Mer-Man does look odd. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but he looks incorrect. I'm honestly starting to think I might not get the Vintage Collection figures anymore. One, because they are Wal-Mart exclusives, two, because I already have very vintage looking 7" figures from MOTU Classics, and 3, when it comes to Masterverse, New Eternia is where it's at.

Chasing down the vintage collection from Wal-Mart just seems like a lot of work for something that's not that must have to me.

I like the Vintage Collection, but I hope they don't go much further than the first two assortments, before the figures leaned more into gimmicks. He-Man, Man At Arms, Teela, Stratos, Skeletor, Beast Man, Merman, Evil Lyn. Obviously they've already made Zodac and Faker. I'd probably also take Tri-Klops. I could call that finished. I still have a lot of love for Ram Man, Fisto, Man E Faces, Trap Jaw, Jitsu, Whiplash, Clawful, but I can't be buying the same thing over and over and over.

So far I've managed to stay away from the Walmart Vintage figures. I have a Walmart in the area with one Zodac on the pegs mixed in with the Fakers and I get tempted to pick them up rather than return home empty handed.

Opened a third KLUT because I noticed the bottom of the package was hella ripped up and not worth keeping unopened. She at least came complete with her accessories, shield straps intact. Her eyes seem just about the same as the previous two copies. I've got her wielding everything she came with, left arm through the straps to hold her spear, and right hand holding the snake staff, wearing the headdress. I'd like to find more ways to modify this one to make her more unique. The elbow range is just so disappointing though.

The elbow range is just so disappointing though.

For sure. The upper arm can be trimmed a bit near the inner elbow joint to free up more space if that's worthwhile to you. I did it on She-Ra and it gives her maybe 10 degrees more range and looks fine.

Looks great to me!
