Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

As a casual, my impression was they were sunsetting Masterverse for Chronicles.

Different scale yes, but new engineering, new aesthetic, kicking off with Scareglow and an exclusive King.

I think that's where the bewilderment comes from from the others.

I guess my inference came from the use of "vastly superior" stated as objective fact, as well of the use of "crazy" - which I admittedly read as more of an insult than a synonym for baffling.

All the youth I deal with use wild as shocking, disbelief.

And I would Echo that I have disbelief they are putting out preorders for Masterverse, when I am under the assumption, they are transitioning to Chronicles.

Your "vastly superior" is going to depend on how much you dig the aesthetic. I think I would make that call, but with cautious optimism as we haven't seen anything else.

Regardless, both lines seem to serve the purpose of giving collector-oriented action figures that cover a wide variety of MOTU content. I do not know why you would have two lines that do that. But I understand the frustration of being invested in one format. I do play video games after all.

You'd also be putting words in my mouth to make your inference because I never said 'crazy.' And I clarified several times already what I was specifically referring to.

People sometimes get hung up on 'stated as objective fact' stuff - but I mean.... I don't know what to tell you. When I say 'that figure is awesome' - I'm also stating it as if it's an objective fact even though the very concept is subjective. What makes a toy better than a different toy? I can't be bothered to put 'I think' and 'in my opinion' in front of literally everything I say, and I don't think that should be required.

That being said; Chronicles figures on average so far compared to Masterverse figures on average so far are more proportional, better articulated with greater ROM, and have smoother articulation. Thus far, they also seem to have better paint applications. Purely on the standpoint of 'as action figures, which thing is better?' I think it's virtually impossible to argue that Masterverse are better figures. Even if you like the LINE more. That's an entirely different consideration.

So I do recognize this is sarcasm directed at me, and touche....

My reaction was to the comment asking why they were still relasing Masterverse figures when Chronicles has effectively replaced it. My reaction perhaps came across more strident than I feel, but, for me personally, I will continue to buy Masterverse releases, but I don't think I'm starting again with Chronicles...

I have a very robust collection of Classics augmented with various designs and looks from Masterverse... Chronicles -at least to date - doesn't work well with those - so not for me.

That said, Mattel can almost certainly get me to cave on that stance if they start introducing new characters I want in Chronicles only... If they put Stretch Neck and Hans Hammerholder in Chronicles, I'd fold like a cheap tent. Bit I still won't rebuy characters in looks I already own. I'm done with that.

You are absolutely right... you typed wild, and I would have sworn that is what I put in quotes, but clearly not. I would have made the same point, but for sure 'wild' is lower on the derogatory or sarcastic comment scale than 'crazy'.

As for the rest. I've only directly handled one Chronicles figure so far, so most of my opinion comes from in package observation, but from that perspective I truly don't see that Chronicles is vastly superior to the vintage collection. Better than the worst of the earliest Masterverse figures, sure, but objectively vastly superior to the Vintage Collection figures... can't get there.

None of it matters, really. I'll keep buying any Vintage Collection Masterverse figures they make and happily skip Chronicles until they slip Lady Slither or Red Shadow in there at which point I'll cave.

It will at least be interesting to see where they go with Chronicles once they leave the movie behind.

As someone that's handled both current Masterverse figures, older Masterverse figures, and Chronicles figures - I can tell you that, to me, they are vastly superior figures. Again, that's different from a vastly superior -line-, because that's not even close to a fair comparison with how many releases Masterverse has under its big metal belt. But as individual figures, Chronicles are much better and more fun to move around, for sure (in my opinion).

Yeah, the potential Chronicles reveals are one of the things, maybe THE thing, I'm most excited about for SDCC.

I feel like you're just looking for a reason to be upset by what I said, because 'wild' is neither derogatory or sarcastic in any way.
