Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I think this Maximum Thor looks fantastic. I'm not gonna buy it because I only have room for one Thor in my display, and that's going to be the classic version always, but yeah he looks really really nice. I really love the Throg figure in there too, would probably snatch that up if I ever come across a loose one for for a decent deal.

The next Max figure I would like to see would be a classic Zeck Punisher with a huge armory, or maybe even a Microchip pack in. Hell, make him a static figure "sitting in a chair next to a monitor" pose and I'll be happy. Definitely wishful thinking on all of that though!

Wow that’s quite a hot take.

I’ve actually come to love cloth goods figures and wired capes. Especially on 6” figures. To the point where if I receive a custom figure or a high end fig that only comes with a drape cape, I will absolutely discard that in favor of a high end cloth cape. I will pay a price equal to that of a hot toys figure to ensure I’m getting a wired cape that’s as sturdy as any piece of high end furniture.

I don't know if it's hot. I prefer cloth, but many people mention preferring plastic and they make good cases (not that I agree with them, but I can't dismantle a preference).

Options would be the best. The cloth costs, but a little shell that pegs in would be nice.
 
I lean towards plastic at this scale because soft goods rarely have the weight to look realistic, but there are some really nice soft goods capes out there so it's not a hard and fast rule. It can be inconsistent though. I think the MAFEX Gambit looks great with the soft goods coat, but the MAFEX Jubilee doesn't look so hot even though it's basically the same material, just in yellow. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Its not a hot take at all. I have consistently explained my reasons for this for years. For me I cannot abide rhe stitching on 1:12 cloth. It is impossible to stitch fabric on a 1:12 scale so the stitches are all monstrously oversized and my brain rejects it. I understand why wired capes are preferable to others, but for me, personally, I can't get over the stitching.

I have acknowledged in the past that it is weird this bothers me in a way that articulation breaks don't, but it does. I absolutely can't stand Mezco 1:12 figures for the same reason.

But this take is as cold and picked over as last weeks leftovers.
 
I like the idea of a Maximum Punisher, but I’m not sure if I’d want one with a massive armory (which I could probably make with all the firearms I’ve amassed over the years) or one with multiple display options like swappable white/black boots and gloves, belts, web gear, vest, jacket (maybe swappable arms for jacket sleeves). Consistent problem is that all of the unused accessories still get stored in a bag.

Mafex Gambit was what finally turned me on to wired cloth goods after years of rejecting them. I'm a convert now, though I can't afford to upgrade every single caped figure with a $20-30 accessory. Gotta learn myself some sewing skills.
 
I think plastic capes look better at 1/12, but a good wired cloth cape is great for posing, and if you get a *good* one it doesn't look awful. I commissioned a few for some of my figures. Mainly Loose Collector figures and some legends, like Emma Frost so shes not a plastic cone. I also don't mind cloth skirts, plastic ones are too constructing. But cloth jedi robes, and mainly anything with cloth hoods look off to me.

I also dislike soft goods for all the typical reasons. I believe there's only one figure with soft-goods in my ML collection and that is 80th anniversary Hawkeye; and I seriously consider a loincloth transplant every time I look at him.
The only figure I could envision myself being okay with if made with soft-goods might be a new robed/cloaked Mandarin, but I'd prefer they eliminate the need for the robe altogether and just make a more classic version.

Now that's not to say I wouldn't LOVE me a posable soft-goods cape, but I'm going to need Hasbro to fabricate it out of some sort of super-thin, cutting-edge meta-material using a nano-weave technology before I bite.

So PantherCult and I are firmly in the same boat --the S.S. M'Baku! All aboard!!

For me, soft goods (be they capes, robes, etc.) really depend on the execution. I think some look incredible, and some look like someone wrapped a Kleenex around the figure. It's really a case-by-case thing for my tastes.
 
I had been against soft goods on anything smaller than 1/6 for most of my collecting life - but lately I've seen the light with the better made soft goods on lines like Mythic Legions and such. I wouldn't go for a full suit type of thing because of the stitching - but when a cape is done right it can enhance the figure IMO.

Yeah, we have tons of firearms and even racks that have built up over the years. An armory could easily be built and I see your point - black/white swappable gloves & boots and a bunch of head sculpts would probably be more serviceable. Im just spitballing becuase I want to see how Hasbro would do a classic Zeck Frank with the modern techniques.

Most soft goods these days are secured via fabric glue though there is nary a visible stitch on any soft goods figure, whether it’s Mezco, Mythic Legions, Figura Obscura or Hot Toys. We’ve reached a point where most soft goods figures are a cut above the competition and the companies responsible for producing them are at the zenith of their craft

Add me to the ‘no soft goods’ column. Just don’t like how they look on a 1:12 figure, though I get the poseability argument. I’d day for Maximum prices, offering a choice would be best.

As jt stands, I dislike pretty much every awshetic choice made with that Thor - costume choice, cloth cape, face sculpt, the works. I’d probably throw down £15 for everything in the pack bar the actual figure, as I really want Throg…
