Amazon sent the Cap/Venom set AND Wolvie/Samurai set together in one brown paper mailer envelope. Not a box. Both packages have some minor denting, but if you’re looking to keep these packages, beware. Amazon seems to be cutting costs on shipping. (They also delivered two Transformers to me this way today.)

I got the same two sets today, Norm but mine were in a box - which is good because I plan on returning Wolverine/Samurai. It has to be based on what distribution center it's being sent from.

I got a Jada Steet Fighter M. Bison several weeks ago that Amazon just glued a label on the actual figure box and didn't even put in an envelope or box. I was pissed. I don't open these and I couldn't get all that glue residue off. It looks like shit. I'm outside the return window on that one at this point, though.

Mine says Moreland, GA. Interesting. I'm in Iowa and it looks like you're in New Jersey; but we both received our figures from different distribution centers in Georgia.

Got my Cap in. I like him. I'm still 50/50 on whether I like smooth or scaled costume, but the colors on this guy POP, and the size seems just about perfect. I like him more in hand than I expected, and at last I can complete the Infinity Gauntlet dio I've been planning. Only thing I'd change is making his shield a touch bigger, but otherwise, very happy with him.

Now off to sell that venom I don't need.

Is Cap a new body or who would I ref for the reuse
I believe the upper torso and upper arms are new. He doesn't have the scale-mail and does have butterflies. The chest is supposed to be broader than the Secret Wars version, but I only have this cap so I can't compare.

I think the rest of him is the same as the anniversary version and Secret Wars version. Same base serious head, but a new screaming head packed in. He's got two fists, and two thumbs up, but no other hands. And his shield has the bash effect.

Comparing him to the recent Crossbones, Cap is ever so slightly shorter, just barely, which for me works. Cap feels powerful, but with an enemy he's got to be a little bit scrappy to beat.

If you’re still iffy on the smooth cap costume, just go ahead and read some Captain America books from Mark Gruenwald’s and Mark Waid’s run and I guarantee they’ll buff that feeling right out, no problem.

Does anyone else's Silver Samurai have gigantic cut marks across his chest? Two got delivered today and both have this issue in the same spot. Looks like someone X-acto'd his chest!

I was excited for this guy.

I'll take another look when I get home, but I didn't notice any slash marks on Samurai's torso either, not at first cursory glance.

I received both sets of Cap/Venom and Wolvie/Samurai yesterday from Amazon. I have thoughts.

Samurai actually ain't that bad. I feel like a lot of the parts are new, it's not just a straight repack. Maybe the arms and legs are reused, but the rest feels new. Again, I haven't looked closely or compared side by side with the previous version. I'm surprised he has no loop to store the sword though. Is that energy effect with the electricity and two spheres related to Samurai?

Wolverine feels great, but I really think they could have achieved this on the same size body as every other Wolverine in the past ten years. Love the crouch thanks to that double pivot joint in the waist and diaphragm. One claw on his right arm came out a bit crooked, but not unfixable. Could have used a second head expression. Love the slash effects, very much like the video game, at least from what I remember.

Venom pops. Love the colors. This guy is in no way becoming a default version, but it's unquestionably handsome. I don't care much for the transforming head, and I'll always have weird preferences for how the jaw looks. I guess this one looks fine, but also looks like it should have a hinge. It does not.

Cap. Wow. This one COULD become a default version. I love it. So clean. While I do love sculpted scales on his costume, this is just slick. The butterfly joints are like butter. And they're fly. He has a reasonable amount of bulk, almost personalized to Captain America himself. Makes him unique, and I like that. I think he's got new boots too. The shield is one of the older smaller shields, but when that effect is attached, wow, really dynamic. I think that's the overall sense I get with this figure. He has a lot of wow factor for me.

So far, I'd say Psylocke, Cap, Wolvie, Venom, Thanos, War Machine, Omega Red, and Silver Samurai are how I'd rank these MvC figures, top to bottom.

Yeah, I'd never picked up any of the Caps before now (came close on that version with the shield effects) because they were always just not quite what I wanted. Minus shield size, this guy's brilliant. A real stunner.

I agree with your assessment on Captain America. It actually makes me wonder if Hasbro is testing the waters with Cap’s physique specifically for the upcoming Maximum Series release. I wouldn’t be surprised if that release was based on Ariel Olivetti’s art style and if so, there’s a 50/50 shot that it could be based on either the 616 Cap or the Ultimates 1610 design because Ariel was a cover artist for stories Hickman’s Secret Wars but made his bones while drawing the Ultimates and the Punisher
