Marvel Legends Gamerverse

They can make all the video game legends they want. But I will buy none of them. I have zero interest in figures based on specific games. As far as Marvel video games go, I either never played them or had no time for them when they came out.

If Hasbro wants my money, I'm looking for classic comic looks and characters that have never been done before.

I mean that’s all well and good but are you telling me that you can say you want “classic, definitive characters based on the comics” but then not look at the capcom stuff with a straight face and make peace with the fact that these are pretty definitive likenesses of classic characters for the most part? It’s their classic costumes and designs, what more can you ask for? Even venom in his saturated blues appeals somewhat to how he was drawn in the 90’s at the height of his popularity when he was an anti-hero. Capcom was very insistent at the time of these games that they didn’t want to incorporate any character designs that felt like they were of a bygone age and not something that was anachronistic to any player who could just pick up their controller, pop the disc into their system and play. The game is meant to play and feel evergreen as a 2D fighter it doesn’t get more basic than what it is. That’s why it’s still enjoyable and seeing enormous popularity as an anniversary collection 30 years later

So one of the Hasbro ML guys posted asking about which Rivals characters people would want in Marvel Legends. I haven't played the game but was looking at some of the designs. Some aren't too different than stuff we've seen. And others are a bit busy for my tastes. Thor looks ok. As does Punisher. Any of them interest you?
Pimp Dagger and Cloak or don't come at all.

I don’t game at all, but I’ll buy a cool figure of a game character with no hesitation.

I dunno. Rivals is huge and lots of younger folks exposure to Marvel in general.
I am surrounded by 30 nineteen-twenty one year olds at my job.

Rivals is their hyper fixation and touchstone for Marvel even over the MCU. I became the comic guru and library. They love it. And most of those kids are artists, and it's inspired them, so I take that victory even if I don't care for the game (I'm a lapsed Overwatch tank and healer who knows I am Toxic).

I think a lot of snubbing of Rivals is just us yelling at the iCloud.

Let Hasbro cook, I say.

I’d take Marvel Legends of any Rivals characters. Of course, Iron Man is a top priority for me.

Ultron has a very cool look. Like a stylized MCU version. It would go a long way towards satisfying my wish for a final form MCU Ultron. M

Luna Snow would give us a new character for Legends.

Namor has kind of an asymmetrical version of his current comic costume with armored arms.

Rivals is fun, and it’s easy mechanics let my daughters play as well and just run around and have a blast. They love Jeff the land shark.

I really like a LOT of the costumes from Rivals. Only played it for about ten minutes before saying I was either too old or on the wrong drugs to play it (much like my attempts at watching most anime) but I'd buy a BUNCH of figures based on the designs in that game.

Maybe not Wolverine's default though, because he looks like he let Jubilee dress him for a date with a younger woman.

I’m not anti video game. As you grow older, you have to decide whether or not something is going to remain one of the things you spend time on. I chose to let video games go around the time of the Sega Genesis. They were just too much of a time sucker. The Capcom looks are much better than anything I see in Rivals. But most of those characters have been done in Legends. I don’t need another version of the A list characters. I already have excellent classic versions. I’m glad you like Hasbro’s gamer sub lines. You are their intended target. But those lines aren’t for me.

One of my absolute favorite things to do high is play video games. In general weed makes me more hedonistic and pleasure-seeking which is why I also get the munchies, but the sights and sounds of video games seem more pleasurable high.

I'm a huge NBA fan so I play a ton of NBA 2K high, but any video game is more fun that way including Marvel Rivals.

Weed gives me the spins but competitive video games give me the anxiety, so I'm doomed either way. Buuuut I can admire games like Rival passively. I'd be hard pressed to narrow down a six-seven figure wave I'd want to see first because I really like most of them.

I'm almost a strictly comic ML buyer. And almost only silver and bronze age. But I will buy more modern looking designs if they appeal to me in some way. I certainly don't think ML should avoid figures from a seemingly popular video game. If it helps bring fans into ML and keeps the line going, all the better. And ML should be able to dip its toes into all kinds of media and eras.

There is an offensive dearth of pics for this much talk of variant character looks. Don’t make me use google, guys.
They call it their "Mafia Look" but... I can see where the other nickname comes from.

(Anyone have a suggestion for the simplest way to share pics here? I've been rotating between imgBB or Instagram but neither seems to be reliable for inserting media into a post for me.)
