Marvel Legends Gamerverse

While I was real excited when these were first revealed, after watching a couple of more times I've found that my enthusiasm for all of the 2-packs has decreased a bit while I want the super deluxes of Gargantos and Juggernaut even more.

I originally thought that I'd likely buy all of these, but if these are going to be $60 each as rumored - that would hurt. They may space the pre-orders out but we know when they actually hit, they'll likely hit all around the same exact time.

The Wolverine / Samurai 2-pack is the one that I've soured the most on. I think that I like the coloring of the original retro card Samurai better and while I rally like that Wolverine, I think that I'll stick with my X-Men '97 one. This one is cool, especially the articulation, but may be a bit too over-exaggerated in height, thickness, and length of mask wings and claws.

The one that I'm still the most likely to get is Psyclocke / Thanos. That's the Psylocke that I've wanted for a very long time. Thanos looks good too even though I was perfectly happy with the King Thanos deluxe that I already have. The wild card here is that it's a Target exclusive so all bets are off on actually even being able to get it regardless.

I'd absolutely buy the War Machine for my Hall of Armors if it was single carded but I really don't need a third iteration of basically that exact same Omega Red. Since this is a Walmart exclusive I can only hope that it doesn't sell out and eventually gets discounted.

That leaves Cap & Venom. This might be my 2nd favorite after Betsy/Thanos, but I'm torn on it. I already have the Secret Wars and Toy Biz tribute Caps so don't really need yet another one. I'd honestly probably use blue Venom as a different symbiote altogether.

So for the 2-packs, right now I'm leaning towards just Psylocke/Thanos and maybe Cap/Thanos. When I watched the first time I had myself convinced that I would buy them all. Gargantos/Shuma is still the big must have here for me and I'm certain that I'll get Juggs as well. The 2-packs I've lost some enthusiasm for.

Cap is all new, yes? He looks beautiful. As someone who loves the 90s I am still totally pumped for these. However I get your sentiment - you come down from a high and there are extra figures in there. I actually never owned Silver Samurai or Thanos because I wasn't collecting then so it's not really a bother.

For as much as the 90s is known for certain costumes with belts and pouches etc. there was also an art style then that was very loud and over the top in terms of anatomy that isn't showcased inside a line built on generic reuse. This Capcom line and McFarlane Spidey are the exceptions to that so I will still be all in, expensive though it may be. I hope Gamerverse ends up doing Spidey and Cyclops at least with the same care.

Is Cap all-new? Not Vulcan body? If he’s all-new, then that’s extra exciting.

I’m still day dreaming about this War Machine. Looks so fun. Like the old 5” War Machine vs Megaman two-pack.

I downloaded various Marvel vs. Capcom games to play with my kids. Lots of fun. Now I want a redo of Onslaught. He’s already very cool, but I feel like they could make the articulation work even better these days.

I think Cap has Punisher's shoulder? With new biceps, boots, and upper torso, and the previous Cap's Forearms, abs, and Legs.. Just my guess after looking through pictures for the last few days.

Ironically, this Cap will be closer to the Secret Wars toy design than the actual Secret Wars Cap.
I’m good with that.

If you look closely on cap his stars on his torso and back are sculpted as are the areas where the blue on his biceps one up with the white and where the lip of his tunic transitions into where the flag pattern begins across his abs. So that at least accounts for the difference lbs in the new torso but I can’t tell if his lower abs and lower body are new as well.

So, I dont think Marvel has a vested interest in obtaining Street Fighter as a property - they aren't a video game company. Ostensibly Hasbro could obtain the rights as they seem to be dabbling in video game stuff... but I see that as unlikely as well.

And I don't think Jada wants to abandon the Street Fighter license. Once they finish their current SF iteration there are a slough of other games to exploit and lots of different characters to make as well as different looks for the main cast. There's no reason to think Jada is looking for a way out.

Yeah, Jada has said multiple times that they intend on moving onto other SF games once the SF2 line up is done. So doubt we’ll be seeing them lose the license anytime soon.

The new Spirit Spider figure deserves to peg warm hotter than any figure has warmed a peg before. I'm happy for those who were clamoring for this... particular suit from the game. There has to be one or 2... but it's so bland. Right to the back of my Games shelf he went beside the semi translucent Miles exclusive.

If there was ever a costume that was the equivalent of the sad trombone it would be Spirit spider. They would do better if that costume at least had a mummy motif but the bandage wraps were like scraps of the Daily bugle newspaper? And then you had the flaming skull poking through the wraps? Also they could put like an actual dead spider carcass on his torso and hat would be freaking sick. But no instead we had to get a variant of Spider-man wearing white tube sock and a blue flaming skull head. What a disappointment..it’s like the instant ramen cup of superhero costumes

Back tracking a bit, Pulse just shipped Gamerverse Venom-suit Pete, Anti-Venom Pete, and Boricua Miles today.

I don't care much about video game based figures, but the one I'd really want, of everything, is the giant Lizard from Spider-Man 2 PS5. I doubt he'd be popular enough to risk the costs for Hasbro to produce though.

Kaiju lizard would be amazing but that thing would nearly be the size of the upcoming X-Men 97 Sentinel. He would ad least be as big as Dragon Man

Yep looks to be between Dragon Man and a '97 Sentinel in size. Closer to Dragon Man, but definitely a bit bigger than him.

Yeah I mean if Lizard is reared up on his hind legs he’s got to be at least the size of a two story house. And of course there was the scene where he crashed through the T-Rex display in the museum and the Lizard was almost equal in size to that skeleton so he’s pretty large.

Now granted as far as “Sentinel sizes” are concerned, he might not be quite that big…yet…the classic Mark II Sentinel designs I think hover at around 5-6 stories tall but we know that the lizard can shed his skin and grow even larger so if Hasbro made a Kaiju sized lizard slightly out of scale that was closer in size to the sentinel, it wouldn’t exactly be out of lockstep with the contextual clues that were already provided in the game. In fact I think there was even an earlier draft of the game’s script that said the Lizard was supposed to be up to 30% bigger than the final version we saw but the devs decided to scale it back since we already had the giant sandman fight in the beginning. Also the battles with Mr. Negative, Kraven and Venom are equally large scale in their own right.
