Marvel Legends Gamerverse

@AceofKnaves and I decided to split the Cap/Venom pack when it was announced, but then he went and pulled a fast one on me. And by that, I mean he sent me Venom gratis. I love sharing this space with you all because you prove the depth of your character in every post, trade, and anecdote. Ace decided to brighten my day for the sake of it. Thank you, my friend.

I haven't owned a Venom figure since the Absorbing Man wave version, which looked like this:

We've come a long way since the Hyperion body. And sorry for the Dorkside Toys jump scare.

I'm not a symbiote guy, but something about Venom in blue made me want the figure. He screams "comic book" to me even though he's based on a video game. The blue is much darker in person than the promo shots. I'd call it Jolly Rancher blue, for lack of a better comparison.

The articulation is phenomenal. He and '90s Sabretooth, the last two big guys I've gotten from Hasbro, have been marked improvements on everything that came before. The butterfly joints are expressive, the double torso articulation is a delight (even if one of them's an ab crunch), and the elbows get better range than they have any right to. (Seriously, I don't want to hear how Hasbro can only give Wolverine single-jointed elbows ever again. Give a little room between the bottom of the bicep and the start of the elbow j,oint and cut out the center of the forearm. Venom's thumb can almost touch his shoulder. 90-degree range is unacceptable.)

As always, I have a few nitpicks: I wish he came with a McFarlane-esque smiling head and had pinless legs and lower leg swivel.

I'm not a big poser, but he's total hand candy. Best of all, he's going to pop on my Marvel villains shelf. Cool toy.

Can’t wait to see reviewers properly putting Shuma through his paces - getting those arms into crazy poses like the game sprite or the image on the front of the box. The few YouTubers so far seem to have just stood him on three tippy toes and called it a day.

I do keep seeing pics of the Cap/Venom set in-hand and it’s tempting. I like that blue on Venom and the scale-less look on Cap is nice. I’m not a big Cap fan though so anyone I buy will be my one and only. Hard not to look at this one and see all the obvious ways it could be improved upon (namely the torso) and it’s easy to assume a better, single-packed, one might be down the road. That one could be a Maximum though and I wouldn’t be down with a $50 Cap. And he’d probably bring back the scaling. Maybe I should just get this one?

I wouldn’t count on single releases as much these days. If it is released individually, it’s gonna come in some kind of deluxe package - with Maximum accessories or some ridiculous trading card… they’re really trying to charge as much as they can while including make believe value.

Two pack Cap reminds me of original Marvel Legend. To me the improved ROM without the scale mail is nice. I only the shield with the effect piece on it. I want some specific vise grip hands for Cap to hold the shield as he is about to throw it. I do have shield throwing effects from earlier release.

Thwipp!

He’s also a redux of the capwolf figure that we got but he’s going to need some upgrades parts for that

I originally planned to sell the blue Venom as I didn't ever play as him in the game, but the quazi-neon-enough blue of him in person and his neon-enough looking tongue and drool made me decide to keep him. I can be swayed by bright 90s-remiscent colors, which is probably why I bought a glow in the dark Gecko-brand tshirt when I found out the brand had been purchased and relaunched.

I'm just a living fad at this point.

Despite my initial plans, I picked up the War Machine/Omega Red set today. War Machine will be another armor for the Armory, and honestly I like the look of this Omega Red better than the one I have already. So no regrets.

Sunday delivery from GameStop. He's pretty dang cool. Heavier than I expected which is hopefully a good sign of being made of durable material. Spent too much time and thought into figuring out if there was a preferable way to place his tentacles. He's got two types, ones with squiggly ends and ones with hooked ends. And each one has a different direction that the articulation joint goes.

He'd been my Top 10 BAF vote for a long time back in the day when Marvel vs Capcom was a priority for me. Not really the case anymore, but he's a great addition to the greater Marvel universe on the shelf. Thinking I'll try and find a way to mount him to the wall.

Got my Shuma today too. He is a heavy boy! Still working on poses, but he is very cool. Got a contact buzz from the paint when I opened it just like the old clamshell's from the Toybiz days. Very potent. The extra eyeball thing is larger than I expected. Now I'm off to play some more.

Watched a video covering the comic history of Shuma Gorath and now it's bolstered my desire for a comic Conan and Kylan Gath even more.

I know there's several Conans floating around right now, I just want a simple one that stylistically fits with Legends.
