This summarizes my approach, as well. I was born to be an MCU completist, but the MCU beat it out of me.

They feel like homework because I find most of them a chore to watch. Falcon and Winter Soldier was the first one where I was like, "Whoa, they have no idea what they're doing." For the most part, I think the MCU shows were better than the Star Wars shows, but it was a combination of the two that killed Disney+ shows for me.

I was indifferent to/didn't like Falcon and Winter Soldier, What If S1, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. I noped out between those, Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan. As a result, I didn't bother with Secret Invasion, What If S2, Echo, Ironheart, and Eyes of Wakanda.

Now I cherrypick what I want to watch. It makes for a far better viewing experience.

I definitely think that was the right approach and hope more people do this. It's clear a lot of people are tired of 'having' to watch everything and getting really resentful. I think, in a sense, I have even decided to cherrypick in a sense, but so far they haven't released anything I'm not at least willing to try.
 
I just watch with low expectations. I cherry pick which ones I make my wife watch with me. She just likes “having a show”. Even ones I dislike I like a few things about them. Not sure I can get on board with Marvel Animated. What if was pretty bad. I did like that SpiderMan show though.
 
X-Men 97 and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man were pretty great. They’re also not tied into the MCU at all which helps make them feel approachable. The nice thing about cherry picking shows and movies is that they don’t go away and one can always go back. I didn’t watch Black Widow, but I plan to watch Thunderbolts when it hits Disney+ and maybe that will get me to jump back.
 
What Ifs tying into the MCU shrunk it to a fraction of what is could have been. Then all the big silly swings. Was a bore.

BW was fun but yet again it swings too big in Act 3. Should have remained a spy thriller. Its not really alone in that regard in the MCU. Thunderbolts was very good.

I get what you mean by that. I'm cool with where they went, but that could have been better yeah.
The very end felt real sudden. Ross is coming! Now she is somewhere else entirely getting a quintet.

How do you mean?

We already knew it'd have to be a super-spy thriller; it just felt like a dialed-up Manchurian Candidate. It's still about stopping a hidden organization from toppling world governments with planted agents, just now their base is flying. It's basically View to a Kill.
 
She-Hulk is great. It perfectly captured the spirit of her comic book. By the end of the Daredevil team-up episode, I kept waiting for the letters page.

Just the bombastic nature of the falling satellite. The hour long plummet in mid air fight by people who cant fly. etc. Is all a bit silly; something I normally like in Marvel but this instance I felt should have remained more grounded (pun half intended). Just eclipses some of the emotional beats when it goes so large. I think the same is true of Shang Chi. Going so big in the final act feels unnecessary. By that point the MCU had enough dimensions, alternate realities, etc. Didn't need to go so big and show us another. Play the demon entering our world as a horror movie, maintain Shang Chi's 70s B movie roots and less of a big LOTR superhero style mob fest. I mean I get it. MCU has to "one up itself" with action set pieces to keep 12 year old boys engaged. I just think they should flow a little more organically from character, tone and story. 3rd act mob fest has diminishing returns. cough cough Avengers 2 cough cough

Yes, many MCU films would be improved by fine-tuning and turning down the “volume” on the final acts/Boss Fights. Although to be fair, that’s far more ubiquitous a problem than just in the MCU.
