So bearded Thing might be super-old Thing?

How we all doing with Ironheart? I feel like it's going to be wild, but I can't quite make it past how much I don't like any of the characters.

Definitely in for a gritty, street-crime Spidey movie.
Definitely down to see Spidey face down the Hulk.
Definitely . . . interested to see Spidey interact with the Punisher.
Definitely curious about all the hanging threads from the last film.

. . . do all of those things make sense in ONE movie? Mmmmmm. Time will tell I guess?

I really don't like it. Riri is such an unlikeable character. Most of the characters are unlikable, but she is the most unlikable. And it is just so poorly written.

It's not just that Riri is unlikeable, she's really a bad person and has no qualities of a hero. I really doubt I will watch the rest.

Her motivation seems to ignore the fact that she's already made an Iron Man suit. Twice.

I think I would really have liked the story of someone who had Tony Stark's genius but not his resources. But this comes after she'd built a suit at MIT AND became best friends with the queen of Wakanada.

I know this show was finished a while back, but I'm not sure if it was finished before BP2. I think I could accept her story more if it turned out to be a prequel to that.

Still, my son is watching a enjoying it, so I'd like to give it another chance, but there's quite the hurdle to overcome.

It is a little odd this is happening after BP2. I need to rewatch BP2 as it seemed like her suit was farther along, and they really glossed over that she had been there in the sort of recap that started the series. I vaguely recall wondering how she got the funding for all her tech during BP2 as well. I am skeptical to say the least that someone who built their own IM suit wouldn't be able to get a job somewhere...

I don't dislike her character as much as I am frustrated by her choices and her kind of adolescent-like demeanor towards her Mom and others, and that makes it a bit harder to root for her - at least so far. I am not sure how old she is supposed to be actually - as a child genius is she 20, or 25? I did feel her character moved along and may have moved up a notch in the third episode, as she reacted to the heist gone bad and the consequences.

While I like the dynamic with the AI "best friend" it really is stretching things for me that she has the personality and memories of Natalie based on some data dump from Riri's brain. (I mean, she needs money but hasn't noticed that the tech that would let someone build an AI avatar of a person from their own memory of them so they could talk to them again is worth billions...)

The Hood is a pretty good "villain" though so far and seems like a threat.

@fac, yes, one of the elements I disliked about her character in BP2 was how casually she built her suit when Tony spent a while movie perfecting it. This show being a prequel world actual go a long way to making me like her more in that movie too.

I only saw the movie once, so some of the details have left me, but if this series ends with her recovering that fancy sports car she was rebuilding in the movie, we're golden.

Ironheart is set six months after Wakanda Forever. If nothing else, that suit she has in the beginning of the first episode is definitely more advanced that her first one she built herself in the movie.

It's stated in the show that she graduated high school at 15 and spent 5 years at MIT; she's 19-20 during Ironheart. Peacing out of this thread now, lol. See y'all when F4 comes out.

You've ruined the show for me. And Panther 2 is still terrible. You happy?

Thanks, I heard that too but I wasn't sure if she was supposed to be in grad school at MIT or still an undergrad - they mentioned being over 4 years in and not being close to matriculating which doesn't make a lot of sense for an undergrad (might make a bit more sense for a grad student to be focused on lab work and projects only and less on courses).

I think it works better for the character if she is only 19 or so, really smart but not yet fully mature.

I think smart-but-immature is essentially her character right now, set against the backdrop of poverty-begets-crime and access-is-more-important-than-talent. I went to undergrad with people who took 5-6 years to finish their bachelor's, so it's not shocking to me she wouldn't have graduated on time considering she clearly wasn't focused on coursework.
