Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

Now that I have Lizard out of the box, this might be the biggest swing in "I shouldn't have bothered preordering, what was I thinking" to "THIS FIGURE IS SO FUN" I've had in a while. He's just a blast to pose! My only gripe has nothing to do with the toy and all to do with the uncanny valley nature of the movie's design for his face, and that I wish he had something between passive/blank and mouth open yelling for a face sculpt, maybe an angry or gritted teeth version. But otherwise, this is such a goofily fun figure to mess with. I really like him.
That's where I'm at too. Is it the most interesting looking figure? Not really, but it's quite well made, and is undoubtedly fun. The humanoid look definitely comes off a bit odd, and limits what they can do- he doesn't have a long tongue, so they can't add one to make it a little more interesting. I don't think I'll ever display him with the closed mouth- it's just a little too uncanny for me, but the open mouth expression is nice and helps break up the sculpt. Part of my love for him may be finally seeing everyone together at last; maybe he wouldn't hold up so well on his own, but as a group, it looks great. My only real nit is the lack of bendy tail; other than that, I quite like him.

Talks on Dan's X re a ML reveal tomorrow - my $$$ is on F4 reveal finally!

It's a safe bet; the descriptor for the event says something along the lines of "It's gonna be a big one, and you're gonna want the whole team". Since Funko just showed off their Fantastic 4 stuff, I assume Hasbro's been given the okay too. Wonder if "big one" means they'll show off the rumored Galactus too, or if they're just referring to the Thing. Either way, I'm excited to see them; hope we won't have to wait until December or so to actually have them in hand!

Count me in as absolutely loving the Lizard! He’s soooo much fun and all around just a great toy. And heheheheh yeah the neutral head is . . . creeeeeeeeepy.

I just wanted to include this stuff for the MCU thread:

I can't wait to get the MCU FF! Just hoping Surfer is in the wave as well

She's gotta be the fifth figure, right? Unless it's Herbie. Or I guess we were discussing powered up versions of Johnny or Sue, but I really hope that's an exclusive or something.

Jayc at marvelousnews:

99% is pretty high.

98%... this is feeling arbitrary.

Either way, looking forward to see what they're listed for and hopefully cancel the blind Walmart preorder.

He also initially thought the FF wave reveal would be today but took that back.

I desperately want comic Inhumans Gorgon and Triton. I'd really like Maximus as well.

For the MCU F4, I'm pretty confident I saw a leak of the main 4 plus Shalla-Bal Surfer and a HERBIE/Franklin "2-pack" but was skeptical at the time because of the Franklin inclusion. Now that we know he is in fact going to be in the movie (due to other product leaks), I'm more likely to believe it. I'd personally only likely get the female Surfer and maybe HERBIE/Franklin. I just don't have any interest in MCU versions of the main 4, no matter how good they end up being -- and that's despite my love of Pedro Pascal as an actor in what I expect to be his best role ever.

I think I'm going to take a close up of it and use it as a reaction image any time someone says something and my only response is a long blank stare at them. (And honestly, it's creepy, it's unsettling, but I think that's a compliment to how great they did with the sculpt. He crossed the uncanny valley in the film too!)

Hey guys. So my intro into the world of collecting was the MCU Marvel Legends (since then, my Black Series collection surpassed it and I also collect Comics X-Men ML), but it sadly looks like Hasbro decided to seriously cut back since Endgame, which makes me so sad. I love that we used get side characters and special lines that would give us figures from the older movies, but now it seems they're only able to give us the essential (and even then, not always. Where are Bucky and Ghost?).

So here's my wishlist which will probably never materialize:

Frigga
Warriors 3
Darcy
Malekith
Kaelicius
Ancient One
High Evolutionary
Queen Ramonda
Aunt May
Scarlet Scarab
Echo
Agatha (final AAA outfit)
Death (Rio Vidal)
Wiccan
Loki (S2 finale)
Valentina
Bullseye (DD Born Again)
White Tiger

And honestly many others

Avengers: Doomsday just got pushed six months to a December 2026 release, and Secret Wars to December 2027.

YAY!!! Can't wait to see what we do/don't get to buy this time next year.

Honestly, why not just push until the next summer and take Secret Wars' slot? Completing movies of this size in a year is just egotistical and unrealistic. Will be curious to see how a blockbuster like this does at Christmas.

Sometimes I find myself thinking about how much better the NWH Electro would have been without the mask attachment... We'll never know to what degree it impacted sales but... it's $20.99 on Amazon now and is honestly a really nice completely original figure. Just... the mask effect...

Looks like it's confirmed the stream next week will be Fantastic 4- Pulse posted about it on their story. For some reason, I thought it was this week, so that's a bummer, but I'll be patient. I suppose if they wanted to hint at some other teams being completed- Deadpool, Thunderbolts, Fox X-Men, I wouldn't be too mad either.

I'm bummed about Doomsday's delay, but not entirely surprised. May of next year was always ambitious, especially for something of seemingly such a large scope as this. I also wouldn't be surprised to see it get pushed again- either sooner or later, since I think I saw it now opens the same day as Dune Messiah, and that's not competition they necessarily want. This'll hopefully give Hasbro some time to get caught up on releases. As long as they weren't banking on using the release of Doomsday as a way to tie-in releases like the original Fox X-Men or remaining Thunderbolts members.

I dunno, the film studio must know what they're doing, heh heh.

Christmas has been pretty good to Blockbusters lately. It's almost the new Memorial Day.

DAMNIT! I dunno, it's probably just as well the return window is closed for me. Ah well. I should have waited.

I would be decidedly not mad.

Same. Really seemed to be getting tight, and I'd rather have some breathing room than doing it by the seat of their pants like they have been.

Yeah, I wonder if one will blink.

X-Men, I assume that's exactly the case. I was guessing the mutants will be the primary focus for figure releases around Doomsday, along with maybe a Thor and Sam. Thunderbolts though... come on. Don't do us like that, Hassy.

Though, even if Bucky and Ghost were planned for Doomsday, they could release them anytime before that given the credit scene.

I just went through the announced cast for Doomsday and (including the unreleased Thunderbolts) I actually only want seven figures anyway, and three of those are kinda iffy for me.
