Marvel 1/6 Scale (Mondo, Hot Toys, etc.)

So Hot Toys is releasing a Galactus styled from the upcoming FF film. There are some fairly minor spoilers related to the figure I wish I hadn't seen but could have easily guessed, but the main one is the way he looks. We hadn't seen a full view of him in any of the trailers or television spots, but now we know what he looks like. I have some questions about that I'll reserve until the film releases since they're more related to the character than the figure. I'll hide a link to the Hot Toys Instagram post about him below that I recommend you not expand if you hate all spoilers, but I'll summarize his look in a pretty non-spoilery way by saying he looks remarkably similar to both the comic designs over the years and the Haslab design which is also similar to most comic designs for the character.

Five years ago this would have blown my mind, but my reaction now that I own the Legends version is that it seems VERY underwhelming because it's mostly just a statue with six token bits of articulation--his head, upper arms, forearms, and waist are rotatable. I suppose if you're only going to do six POA then those are good choices, but WHY does Hot Toys skip articulation as a primary focus of its entire brand? That's the main reason times a thousand I don't own any of their figures aside from the fact that they frequently use materials that degrade quickly within a few years if you actually use their points of articulation forcing collectors to pose them as if they're a statue instead of an action figure.

No word on the price yet, but knowing Hot Toys it will likely be between $600 and $1000. He's a bit under 28 inches tall so 4 to 5 inches shorter than the Haslab Galactus. The sculpt and paint look absolutely amazing as usual, and his eyes have a light up feature similar to the Haslab Galactus.

Definitely spoiler-ish but it still doesn't beat the number one movie spoiler action figure of all time:

Savage Land Rogue is up and has a tariff surcharge of $20 and shipping of $22.

So I'm not getting her. That extra $42 is a killer. Plus, I only want the 97' alt head.

If anyone does splurge and doesn't want that piece, please LMK!

And even without the tariff that shipping with Canada is gross. It used to be free right. I swear it was.

Anyway, I'm not paying $360. Copy paste this to shame me when I tell you I bought it in an hour.

Yeah, they do this every year where their con exclusive is really just a preorder. Logan and Omega Red were done the same way.

I don't know what the solution is, but they need to do something about the tariff and shipping thing. It almost does no good to release a price and then tack on another 40-50 bucks when you go to check-out. I'm not in for this Rogue, but this line is basically now north of 300 a piece and it definitely sucks. I'd rather they just up the list price and still give us free shipping. It's a shitty situation though and I know it's not their fault, but it feels like a high pressure sale currently when they spring that thing on you.

The first Mondo I bought, timed ed. He-Man was $260 in June '22. The last one I bought was the Goddess in March at $265.88. Rogue clocked in at $315.86 after sales tax. I noticed my early Mondo purchases didn't have sales tax applied.

I can't imagine buying too many more of these Mondo figures. Maybe, Storm and that's it.

I just want to complete the ‘92 team which meant passing on Nightcrawler. Sinister was a big part of that show so I’m tentatively planning on getting him as long as the price isn’t stupid. Thankfully, my parents live in NH so I may be shipping them all there to save on tax.

I wonder if that alt head will come with the Timed or Limited Edition. She looks great - she and Jean are the last ones on my list if I had any self-control.

Hope she comes with a base! I hate those crotch doll stands Mondo resorts to.
