Magic the Gathering Legends

Anybody else have really stiff hips on the Battle damage Spider-man. This is my 2nd one and I'm afraid they will snap off.
Yes, the hips were a well-known issue with battle-damaged Spidey. According to Dwight, they tested some new engineering that they won't be using again. It led to a lot of broken hips.

Lol... Just read the last couple of pages of this thread... literally all of the battle damaged spidey figures have the hip problem.

As much as I want to complain, once again the Marvel marketing team showing they actually effing LISTEN. This was clearly a dud figure and they address it and won't repeat it. As annoyed as I am with the bad hips on the figure I appreciate that they acknowledge it and won't re-use the design.

I don't know that they had a choice. They put out the Ford Pinto of Marvel Legends figures, acknowledging both the propensity for the hips to break as well as the factory sinking the neck peg so deep in the chest that there's virtually no neck articulation aside from just moving the head around. And they only asked for $40 from each of us to find that out! True humanitarians.

I bought another BD Spidey when they dipped in price, and I find that the hip joints are a bit more fluid than the original BD Spidey I got. Is there documentation that they adjusted the tolerances in later runs?

Heat up the legs with warm water and slide them off. If the hip pegs still resemble a dreidel, they can't be all that different.

I picked up BD Spidey on sale and oh boy, both heads were weirdly warped in the box and needed to be boiled and let realign, really odd to see that.

I had a spare RYV that I bought off a guy who broke the right arm off at the bicep accidentally so it was either going to be a base for my own version or donor parts if the hips were especially bad however I found it was relatively achievable to boil and pop the legs off and just go to work with a small hobby file smoothing out the edges on the balls until it was more evenly spherical, then reassembled and he poses very nicely indeed.

On balance I’d say he was worth getting due to the discount and whatever I can recover from selling the card but it’s really bad form that this isn’t the default single card evergreen release and is locked behind an overpriced card set and the RYV 2-pack. But I guess it pushes people towards the Maximum Spidey which fails at having properly rounded toe articulation, instead having an edge that needs sanding off.

It makes me wonder what oddities wave 2 of MTG will have….

On the plus side, wave 2 has no characters I'm remotely interested in! I think some people may want Doom 2099, but I don't have 2099 anything else so why bother paying for Hasbro's latest experiment.

I want Malice. Not sure i wanna pay for the card markup though.

Doom 2099, Malice AND a Black Panther... all of that sounds yummy. And I have nephew who wants the cards, so extra win. If the Captain America is new and unique in some way I could be tempted for all 4... so lets hope not.

Battle Damaged Wave 2:

- Doctor Doom with single-pinned elbows and knees to replicate rusted armour mobility issues
- Invisible Woman/Malice, but she’s caught the flu so they reuse the retrocard mid-sneeze face to express her vague irritability
- Black Panther with unnecessarily loose hips this time to give him that ‘just tripped down the stairs’ effect so the figure won’t stand up without support
- Pre-serum Captain America on the weedy teenage body with asthma inhaler accessory
