Last Movie Watched

I'm in the minority here, but I'd say you're not missing anything- watch the original, superior Korean film "Internal Affairs" instead.
My wife really wants me to watch it, but I keep reminding her how I giggled derisively all through Shutter Island.
Since we're doing hot takes, I think Scorsese is insufferable and overrated. I know he's good, but he's not FilmGod IMO.
Agreed. I think his best film is the remake of Cape Fear, it’s the only Scorsese I watch regularly. That said: at least I could watch his De Niro era: pairing himself with Leo just absolutely destroyed his output in my view. I wanted the prologue of Gangs of New York to be the whole movie, Leo and Cameron Diaz are so shockingly miscast that it’s almost amazing how terrible and ill-suited they are. Like failure on an epic level. So bad.

Heh... Departed is in my top five Scorsese movies. And I admit I'm one of those who applaud almost his entire catalog.

Though I have yet to see Flower Moon, assuming it would be heavy and depressing. Did NOT realize it was a comedy.

It’s very heavy and depressing. But Leo plays a deeply stupid and shitty man, and I guess watching him debase himself is funny.

Ah... Well, I'll see it eventually. I was so excited when I heard Scorsese was trying to make it, but I'm too familiar with the subject matter and need to put it on a day I'm really in that mood.

So, Leo for the next Iron Man?
Dear Grodd I remember when he was gonna be in Spider-man, directed by James Cameron.
I’ve got a lot of beef with Marvel films, but at least that actor and that director never got their hands on Spidey.
Man, I lived in fear for YEARS under the spectre of that potential film.

Infernal Affairs is dope. If you don't like Marty or Leo, it's an absolutely acceptable alternative to Departed.

I do think Departed is good, but I think I liked the original more. Beyond the Departed, I tend to find Marty's movies... fine. They are objectively well made pieces of film, but they rarely do anything for me specifically. None of the ones I've seen (admittedly, I haven't dipped heavily into his catalog) really grabbed me. None of them were badly made or anything. All well cast. Dialog tends to be decently written. They just don't connect with me.

That's fair. There are a couple Scorsese I haven't liked and a couple I probably won't watch (New York, New York, Age of Innocence), but several of his I am a really big fan of. Spielberg too. Never really got into DePalma and love telling people my favorite of his is Carlito's Way, which is true, especially if I know they like Scarface.

Spielberg too.
See now, Spielberg I'm here for. Call me tasteless. I don't care. I like the majority of his movies. Even the ones I'm not into for whatever reason, there's still usually something about them that would make it an ok watch if nothing else was on.

Right? I'm sure there are some who feel he is overblow or whatever, but I really love some of his movies, and enjoy several others. And a few I'm not into, but the majority are great. Jaws I always gonna be my favorite, but I'm sorry... I love Catch Me If You Can. I also do count Goonies and Poltergeist as Spielberg.
