I picked up Borderlands 4 on a whim. Can't believe it's been six years since the last.
I'm not as fan of Borderlands as Franchise, more a fan of Games I Can Make Builds On and Loot Farm While I Listen to Audiobooks, and on that front, they delivered.
One seamless world. Destiny Warlock glide. Destiny speeder bike. New four character/classes have intriguing talent trees. I went with Vex, the witch who can summon a cat, clone herself, or just go Dark Phoenix Avatar mode, and I can't even decide, which is rare for me. And within those 3, even then I see potential for how you'd do it once the loot and keywords flow.
Very much a fan of If, Then power creep abuse.
Tutorial was strange in that it had a different tone and didn't give you any of the Borderlands Stuff you'd expect - namely powers. But it's skippable once you do it once, which is great for rerolls and coop.
It did feel kind of weird to play the game Thursday at midnight drop, given Thursday, when one of the first lines for comedic effect is "Murder solves every problem!". And for a moment I felt kind of weird, for the first time ever in my gaming life, that I was running around unloading endless rounds into endless bodies that gib and splatter and shatter and ragdoll like an undead burlesque dancer. But I got over it, because it's all alienrobots and weird ass sci fi toys.
One of the other classes is a Metal Gear Ninja dude who wears turrets on his shoulders that you can customize how you want to... I dunno. Wear turrets as fashion in an endless rain of meatbags.
For toys, Todd did make BL3 figures, but given ELITE lines, I would be the one person on this board who might pay Elite prices to Todd for my Sanitized Alt Girl Witch and her cat, or Turret Ninja. Or Jada can do it, IDGAF.
