Hulk Retro Wave

I was just taking another long look at that Abomination figure. It's nice for whatever it is, but it just isn't my cup of tea.
IMO, Abomination is tricky. I definitely need him to heavily skew classic, however, many of his early renderings look goofy as hell. Even the Marvel Handbook is a mixed bag. For me, there's a sweet spot in there somewhere but it's difficult to narrow it down to one artist or particular design. I don't want him with that Fin Fang Foom-looking goldfish face, but he definitely needs the segmented/ribbed lips and eyebrows. And like @NORM said, he also needs the segmented/ribbed skin.
I MIGHT accept a reuse of those feet because they're a close-enough interpretation of his usual two toes, but if everything else is getting a new sculpt anyway, might as well do the proper two toed feet while they're at it. Those torn-up pants definitely gotta go though.
I guess I'm looking for something in the neighborhood of Alex Ross meets John Byrne?

Random crazy Beamish thoughts:

The first Retro Hulk Wave rumor/leak from 4-9-25 had:
Abomination (on sale now)
Smart Hulk (possibly teased)
Hulk 2099
Doc Samson

Additional Hulk-related names attached to a Retro Hulk Wave from 6-18-25 were:
Red She-Hulk (already revealed)
Banner/Hulk
Mecha Hulk

Dwight/Dan said there were 4 figures in this wave, but aren't waves usually revealed and available for pre-order/purchase at the same time?
Maybe we're getting more than just the first four listed in some shape or form.

I'm personally passing on this figure because he isn't more like what you're outlining here ... for me, ML has just gotten too expensive for me to buy figures that are "close enough" or that I have to talk myself into wanting.

I really think to do the character justice, he should have been an all-new sculpt. I can appreciate Hasbro wanting to get some mileage out of the GamerVerse buck, but c'mon: this is more or less an official release of a popular fan kitbash that doesn't actually match any comics version of the character super well.

This guy is absolutely my ideal Abomination look!

I'm just waiting on this wave being properly announced, and Doc Samson is quite small for a full on deluxe release, so hopefully they go all out with accessories. Been reading through all his appearances from the beginning this week, hopefully that manifests something soon.

Can't get why they won't give us an Abomination with fists.

I feel like this version is maybe a bit better in some ways but not enough for me to buy him again.

I don't have any versions, and I'm not a learned enough Hulk fan to really know what's accurate and what's wrong with this one.

But I know what's wrong with it for me, and it's not having fists. That is an actual deal-breaker for me on any action figure in this year of our Lord.

This version is taller than the old BaF, right? Honestly, it being in-stock and that reason (if true) make me kind of tempted to pick it up.

If this version had trunks and fists I would have bought it despite being OK with the previous Abomination figures I have. The torn shorts and lack of fists has me keeping my $45+ in my pocket.

I like this Abomination for what it is and purchased. If Dwight/Dan decide to ask the powers that be to do a total true Abomination and he is as big as this one is being based on the Gamerverse body then I will buy that one too and use this one as an imperfect close or something.

Just an average Tuesday in Marvel Legends releases. Get a new "definitive" version of whatever character, have it be off and made vaguely contemporary in all the wrong ways so it leaves room for another release within the next few years.

I'm sure we'll get a perfect Toybiz Hulk inspired Retro Card Abomination in 3 years, but it'll have a head based on Todd Nauck instead of Sal Buscema or black trunks instead of blue or something, so we'll still not have our itch fully scratched and need another re-release.

Personally though, I'm just ready to buy Toybiz's versions of The Thing and Abomination when I get the urge to snag them. Hasbro just hasn't hit the mark at all for either character.

Hear hear!
This is not the Abomination I'm looking for. Not settling for this half hearted effort to get those of us who want a classic version to bite for another $50. Hard pass!
