Heroic Signatures

Here, posted an album so you can see what we are talking about. It looks even worse in person.

The other big thing they did that bugs me was that they left the ankle joints flesh colored. Which, okay, fine...he does come with spare bare feet, so it makes sense to a degree. But two things about that:

1) It once again is painted and it's flaking bad, so it doesn't even make for a better QC scenario.

2) Other companies have done this--and what would have really added to this and shown a real attention to detail--would have been to make it so the joint could be removed above the ankle, and allowed for it to be the same color as the boot. In otherwords, separate and appropriately colored ankle joints for the boots and for the bare feet.

Also, the booted feet have hinged toes, but the bare feet do not. That kinda sucks.

Just another one of those things. Ya know. I was really looking forward to this figure, so I don't want to be shitting on it. And I want to give them grace, being a first time figure manufacturer. But there are some things that are unforgivable in 2026, and certainly with Eamon at the helm. Not sure if he was involved in that aspect, but...

Overall, Frazetta and Mezco remain the defaults

Edit: I don't know why it isn't letting me add the album.

You can see it in my Imgur albums.

I opened mind and the paint flaking isn't that bad in my opinion. Nothing worse than the Frazetta Icons. It poses better than Frazetta Icons. Overall I like it a lot. I'm not too worried about shelf diving wrecking the paint. He already fell and scraped my coffee table on the way down with no issues. But maybe the paint quality varies from product to product. I haven't seen enough reviews to judge yet.

The feet don't have hinges because Eamon didn't like how it broke up the sculpt, but he found it okay with the boot feet because of their comparative lack of detail. He prioritized looks over articulation, and with that design philosophy in mind, I find this works very well. It's more poseable than a Mythic Legends, less than a Savage Crucible.

Had a chance to crack Conan open tonight. The paint issues weren't as bad as I expected, or rather no worse than any of the other high-ish end fantasy lines that keep insisting on painting skin and joints instead of casting in skin tone. I'm a little torn on this guy.
  • The good: face sculpts are fantastic, the kit he comes with is stacked got a lot of personality, really nice looking figure. Also I REALLY appreciate that his shirt/armor can be swapped without breaking the entire fucking figure apart like other lines. More of that please all companies.
  • The bad: STRUGGLED to get the head to swap and when I did it seemed to just cause chaos with his hair - I think they design to make the hair swappable is good in INTENT but in FUNCTION it's really not user friendly. Swapping hands was a tremendous pain in the ass, too. I'm sure there's a logical engineering reason for this, but the stubs are TINY and it's hard to tell if they're secure or not. Another common problem with lines that paint their hands - the fingers are so tight I was afraid I'd scrape the paint off the fingers getting his weapons in his hands. (Probably my biggest whinge about painted hands in general, TBH.) Also I can see what they were going for with the shoulder joint, but I think it's over-engineered. It's hard to tell if he's back in a neutral pose and the shoulder itself doesn't want to go up or down. Tons of range back and forth (that two-handed grip!) but at the cost of vertical posing.
I dunno. I think he's more versatile than Frazetta Girls but the joints are not nearly as smooth. I like the Frazetta face sculpt more but that is ENTIRELY a personal preference. If Warrior with Ball and Chain from Savage Crucible is unofficially Conan, I think he's the most FUN version of the character, but the least versatile looks-wise, whereas this guy is the most geared up but stressful to pose.

I think the past year of picking up occasional what I'd call prestige figures makes me realize how much more I appreciate when the makers have durability and functionality above aesthetics - this is a beautiful figure but I'm less likely to actually have FUN with it because I'm afraid I'll fuck it up.

Brutal Realm is also doing the 'overlay boot top on a bare leg' thing where you can CLEARLY see the bare ankle between the shaft of the boot and the actual foot. And, let me just say, it's basically an immediate 'no' from me when a company does that. It looks fucking awful.

I agree...I hate whenever I see that design on figures, period. It just looks dumb. I know I'm probably going to wind up painting the leg underneath, since I doubt I'll ever display him barefoot, and I don't want the bare skin showing through the boot.

Yeah, the ankles thing is more an issue if you plan to mess around with the figure a lot. Once it's on the shelf, you just push the overlay down over the ankle and you don't see it. But if the ankle thing will bother you, AND you are a 'I want to take that figure down and repose it all the time' kind of person.... well, YMMV.

Mine arrives today but it might be the weekend before I can finally open him up. Definitely appreciate reading everyone’s first impressions. Definitely will be on the lookout for the paint flaking.

Got a shipping notification today. No update yet, just that it was created. Hoping it doesn't take too long since I'll be out of the apartment it's shipping to by the end of next week.
