My kids are now grown. My daughter is about to turn 29, and my son is 24!! I still miss the days when they were little and we'd play though. My daughter had a collection of superhero Barbies, and I loved seeing her "marrying" Spider-Man and MJ (she had a Romita Sr. Mary Jane in her wedding dress, and my son graciously gave her an in-scale Spider-Man figure that he'd received as a birthday gift so Ms. Watson wouldn't be lonely). When she was not-quite eight, I let her skip school so she could go to the midnight opening of Episode III. She dressed as Princess Leia in her iconic New Hope look, and was a huge hit with everyone there. SO many amazing cosplayers all wanted a picture with her! She definitely felt like a Princess that night. My son and I had so much fun together playing with the MOTU Origins figures as they were being released, collecting the new ones, getting the playsets, etc, that I don't think I could EVER get rid of that collection. Especially now as he's just hitting that age where he's really just about the video games (still plays video games with dad, though, so that's nice) and it's really got me cherishing that collecting that we built together.
My son had a ton of Star Wars, Marvel, and DC animated figures that we'd have fun with for hours on end. While my daughter has most of her Barbie collection with her in tubs, the majority of my son's stuff is in my garage....though when he moved out I converted his room into a guest room that I decorated in a Star Wars theme. Many of his toys, like his fancy Millennium Falcon and his 3.75 scale Rancor are still displayed in that room. Reminders of simpler times, when they were innocent and full of wonder.
I cannot wait to see the in-hand pictures of him. Truly hoping I can score one during the in-stock sale!Elric is out for delivery!!!
