Ghostbusters General Thread

Well then they can re-release the two new ghosts from this Halloween set on their own too!
Start your letter writing campaign then. I was miffed when NECA said they were never going to re-release their Spirit of Splinter figure only to put it into a boxset a couple years later. Ultimately companies don't care if you feel robbed on exclusivity so long as it doesn't hurt their bottom line. Plus Samhain goes for quite a bit on Ebay, you can always buy it and then sell whichever Samhain you favor less and keep the minions.

Okay, but why were you miffed? Did it bother you that someone else could get Splinter now too? Because that's absolutely nothing to do with why I'm bothered here. I want everyone who missed out on Samhain who actually wanted him to be able to get him. It's great they're getting another chance. I honestly don't know, did the Splinter boxed set come with exclusive new stuff?

Did the boxed set include new figures that weren't available elsewhere? This is literally the only part of this that is bothering me. I couldn't care less about Samhain's actual exclusivity, I hope everyone that ever wanted one gets one somehow.
Reissues of the original 4 turtles with other exclusives like the accessory pack mixed in. So basically a boxset comprised of reissues of the original releases, an exclusive accessory pack, and a Lootcrate exclusive figure that was supposedly never to be had again.

Heck, even Hasbro said Dragon Man was "made to order" ie: a set number of units. They sold the "replacement" units shortly after they all shipped and were telling people with busted figures they didn't have any more to replace them with. Now you've got Dragon Man back on Pulse with over 400+ units showing available. I've given up taking toy companies completely at their word is all I'm saying.

The Dragon Man thing sucks in that they weren't replacing figures for the original buyers, for sure. But it doesn't fundamentally bother me that he's still being offered after the fact.

You bought something you thought there was only one way to get, I bought something I thought there was only one way to get (via Lootcrate). Dunno what else to tell you. Looks like you're getting a new head/expression with the GID paint as well.

I feel like we're talking past each other a bit here, but it's a silly thing to get too worked up about so I'm not gonna try and explain myself any futher. Absolutely nothing to do with you personally!

I got you, cmoney. It's not that it's just a re-release, it is that it's what I guess could be called Venn diagramming the releases, which is something I personally loathe. Meaning to complete a collection, you will need to purchase dupes of the same thing, because there is overlap amongst the sets.

That Samhain does have a new head, and the two ghosts. Whether or not it will have more heads than that, and if they will be dupes or not, is a wait and see. If the heads do swap, you're left with a redundant body that I guess you could try to sell. But really you'd need both to be complete.

Is it the end of the world? No. But $110 w/tariff fees to get Samhain originally was a stretch. And they sensed that, and did a lot of PR to kind of smooth the price pushback—part of the chatter was the exclusivity, a once and a lifetime shot. So outside of Venn diagramming, it is also just a little annoying because people definitely purchased this thinking it was exclusive. Like, literally, Samhain was outlined in dotted lines and marked "exclusive." Yes, they can do it. But also yes, we can be annoyed.

I'm a little more bummed though that there weren't any new reveals, though Janine looks great. Still waiting on a hand/head pack and some more little ghosts, Mondo!

Okay, Ghostbusters News has the scoop. $135 for the new Samhain. They state he comes with new "heads", plural, and the body has been slightly revised.

They have pics of the updated display at NYCC that show him off. He's holding a different Slimer than the Venkman/Janine ones. I wonder if that comes with him, or if it is a tease for what's next?
