General Marvel Legends

One of my favorite Wolverine figures of all time is still the (unmasked) Water Wars Wolverine. I'd say that was pretty much a perfect Wolverine figure if taken in the context of when it came out. Is it THE perfect Wolverine figure? No. Is it better than the current Legends figures? No. But is it still the perfect 5" ToyBiz Wolverine? I'd say pretty much, yeah.
Loved this figure with its perfect hunch. The masked version was no slouch either for its time.

Several good ones in that line I liked the Nightcrawler and that Sentinel was pretty good too.

Technically, it also probably had the best Storm too, if you wanted a cartoon-style Storm as a kid/teen.

Oh yeah. Both versions were great. True story is I actually had both, sliced their claws off, and glued them on the opposite Wolverines. So my maskless Wolvie had adamantium claws and my masked Wolvie had bone claws. I THINK I did that because the 'ninja' Wolverine from around the same time was also a maskless Wolverine and had bone claws.

Anyone else pick up the re-issue Retro Electro? I never got the first one, stupidly, and this one just arrived - are all the eyes like this? Yikes.

Believe so. Magik is the same.

Totally in the same place with Venom and so far haven't gone for any of the existing options.

The recent retro-card one is kind of close, but I also don't like either of the heads. The main problem I have is the body proportions though, it's almost like they're all too bubbly? Like, the muscles seem really round, so it almost feels as though he's made of bubbles.

It's odd, but I can't get over the bubble thing.

Kind of liked the king in black version, but it was too lanky (due to the movie body) and I cannot deal with toes on a Venom figure. Just absolutely not.

I never owned a Venom figure as a kid either, even though he was my favourite villian in the animated series. Maybe it's just a really specific and benign curse.
He almost looks like they had a well-proportioned figure, then squished him down to fit the card. I know that’s not what really happened, but I agree with the bulgy-ness. The Gamerverse one has new arms and a new torso that add length and better proportions so it doesn’t have the same silhouette when just standing straight up and down. The thighs are still the same and overdone which is why if they do a black version I hope it gets new legs.

I LOVED that figure! Best 5" Wolverine by a mile.

I think Water Wars Wolverine is the one I put with my updated 5" '90s blue team. That had Monster Armor Cyclops, MvC Rogue and Gambit, Secret Weapons Beast, light up Psylocke. I think i used the Modern Age (single carded) brown costume Wolverine which was a retool of that Water Wars sculpt, with the GSXM set, along with Cyclops from the Famous Covers line (2pk with Dark Phoenix). I think I threw in the Toy Fare mail away Havok with that line up. They're all in my attic. I don't think I'll ever dump them.

Water Wars Storm is still on display at my parents house, along with Gen X Emma and Jubilee, Blink, Light-Up Psylocke, Shi'ar Rogue, Monster Armor Mystique and Onslaught Jean Grey.

Do they match? NO. Does it still bother me? YES.

I had the Capcom Rogue but hated the anime face so much I had to get rid of her. So I don't have a Jim Lee Rogue on my shelf (my OG one is with me ;).

I still have WWWolverine because that figure did indeed rock.

This was my “perfect” Toy Biz Wolverine. Loved Water Wars, but unmasked and in the brown costume was (and still is) my ideal Wolverine.

So much love for one of my favorite Wolverine figures ever (brown version too - also fantastic) makes me very happy.

I hadn't realised the torso/arms were new and that's definitely more promising if they do a black version. New legs feels like a necessity too as they're still pinned.

Venom also seems like a decent candidate for a maximum release, even if it's just a whole bunch of different head sculpts/artist styles. Maximum Carnage two pack also seems obvious but maybe it's a bit too on the nose (or they can't use names from specific comics or something weird).

It’s funny that I can still recall exactly what line each of those figures came from (Water Wars, Monster Armor, Secret Weapons, etc, but I have zero recollection of the gimmicky junk they came with. I’m sure I just tossed all that nonsense in a bin or in the trash, as it presented no use for me at all.

Wolverine had that stupid metal-color extra shoulder pad and the big (red and black?) squirt gun that sat over it when he was holding it. And Monster Armor Cyke had like.. skeleton parts and a giant eyeball... I think? Water Wars Storm came with a pretty sweet base. It was like a storm-cloud that would shoot water.

I held off on the Wolverine because I thought the stupid shoulder thing didn't come off. When I saw it did I ran back to Toys R Us with the quickness.

Back in the day when this stuff never would have sold out because they just had hundreds.
