Got nothing against suited characters, personally. We just have so many suited characters/figures that it's nice to have a little variation on the shelf. But if it's the main look for the character, I'm good with it. I'd rather them not waste resources on one-off looks unless it's somehow really memorable. But honestly, Mandarin isn't a character I really have that much nostalgia for. I'm mostly just curious as to where we'll see some of these parts reused down the line.I know I'm in the minority, but I actually liked the Mandarin when he was in a suit. He looked cool as a "crime boss", and I thought it was a good update to the character. That being said, I'd have also liked him in his Acts of Vengeance armor as well.
My biggest disappointment with this Mandarin is his height. Once again using the suited body, he's too short. I feel like he should be taller. Like, maybe if they'd have used the Samuel L. Jackson suited body for this figure instead.

Yep. My youngest son is a freshman this year, born in 2011. My older boy graduated this past year...that shit hits you hard, so be ready for it.![]()
Sorry, I know ya'll are talking about shiny new toys, but I'm still recovering from this. Doesn't help that my Nibling just started their Junior year of high school, and I remember them being born.
If that ends up being the case, it still won't end up in my collection. Too modern. Too boring. This may well be the only Mandarin they ever do
I think it is just them operating with same mentality that is behind what is now the infamous Jesse quote on Man-Ape. Which, I don't agree with and I think it'd be okay to do them. But they're the ones in charge unfortunatelyIf that ends up being the case, it still won't end up in my collection. Too modern. Too boring.
From all our discussions here (or well, Fwoosh before here) I think a lot of folks were in the same boat that I am. I'd have been happy with a lot of different options. Purple mask, green/yellow robe, half naked dragon tattoo, Acts of Vengeance armor, I'd have even been happy with the green skinned animated look.
This feels like how Hasbro operated like 10 or so years ago where they'd make so many characters in costumes other than their iconic ones. Feels like it took forever to get the likes of Thor or Hulk in a vanilla classic look.
