General Marvel Legends

They're sold out now, but I don't know how long they stuck around.
A while. Weeks if not months. I eventually sold off the HYDRA ladies I bought because I don't really have any HYDRA in my collection and they felt lonely without any other baddies to pal around with, but I kept the SHIELD ladies. Sadly I think they are probably why we won't get women versions of any of the other army builders. Bums me out.
I need my Lila.
RIGHT!? I know she'd be a peg warmer for most but c'mooooon!

She is NOT a cat lady. She is a Mephitisoid. For those unaware the skunk is family Mephitidae, and the common striped skunk genus and species is Mephitis mephitis.

Hepzibah is very definitively and deliberately a SKUNK lady.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Is she supposed to stink also? Like is that part of her abilities? Is she like Stinkor, smelling like Pachouli oil? I have only ever seen her as white furred. What parts of her fur are black?

This is how I want Ch'od size-wise

Is this Gary Frank art?

This is exactly what I was picturing. I love the way he drew the entire crew, and I love that Ch'od absolutely dwarfs Hulk here. Not to say a smaller Ch'od is inaccurate to other appearances, but he just looks so cool like this.

I am humbled and ashamed! To be honest, that absolutely gigantic tail really should have been a giveaway. The question then becomes - is a Mephitisoid properly done on the Tigra body, or the furrier Wolfsbane?

I'd probably buy 2 Shiar troopers to flank Lilandra, nothing really beyond that. I'm not going ape on the outer space stuff beyond the Imperial Guard basic/more known characters and maybe D'Ken and Erik the Red. That'll be it for me.

I'd like to see some AOA Infinite soldiers ( I doubt they could be done justice as a troop builder, so maybe a 2pk) same with some 90s Phalanx. A Shiar suit Gambit and Rogue would be a definite pickup as well.

No way you posted this pic without mentioning that we need Spat and Grovel.

Norm as you can see from her earliest appearances her arms and legs are covered in black fur.

Apparently subsequent artists assumed or decided that was costume or something because admittedly since the late 90's she has been drawn like a white furred cat lady.

It has been a pet peeve of mine for decades how they have literally white washed my poor girl

I've seen that image so many times and never realized her limbs and tail were supposed to be black fur and not just heavily shadowed.

Thanks for sharing that image, PC. I agree with the above, that looks more like sleeves and pants for a costume than black fur. It's the completely white head that throws me off. With the yellow leotard blocking the transition, it's hart to tell where the white and black come together. Like is that white fur trim on boots? Or does her fur grow like that from her calves? It's generally a confusing design.

That's a good call out, Norm. I was reading the limbs as uncovered, but the coloration is confusing precisely because there's no visible transition between the white and black. And the boot fur is especially weird.

I've always considered her to be a skunk-type alien. In fact, when specifying the classic look I want for her in my Top 10 lists, I describe it as "Skunky Fresh".
But now that I'm staring at that trim around her neckline in that image, it's staring to look more like she's a smooth-skinned alien girl wearing a sexy skunk costume.

But, regarding her lower legs, I've always interpreted them as Mongolian fur boots due to the clean line of demarcation. Plus, there are a few images from the comics where she's drinking with Corsair and she isn't wearing them.

I get what you are saying but if you look closely at the left arm there is clearly furry fringe at the left wrist. And the light accents on the leg are thatched at the edges rather rhan smooth to imply the fur texture. Admittedly the ankle fringe reads more as boot cuff than fur because of the the lack of 'shoe' definition below. But I promise that is a yellow bathing suit over a black furred body - probably with a white belly, because... skunk.

The ears sticking up above her hair are also black.

The wikipedia entry has my back:
"As a Mephitisoid, Hepzibah resembles a humanoid skunk. Some artists have given her a more cat-like appearance, making her tail smaller and her fur entirely white."

Also as a nod to her skunk scent, Hepzibah has pheromone powers she can emit to control others. A cat might have manipulation abilities but not scent based abilities 😁

Bout to say. Look at the line work on the shading on her legs and arms. It’s clearly implying that is fur. Her face is all white bc to do much in black would negate her features in a 70s four color comic. They prob should have skunk spotted her hair though.

I mean, character looks have evolved over time. How many appearances did she have where the black fur was obvious? There's gotta be a reason for the reinterpretation to white. This has to fall into the same category as Nightcrawler and Beast being blue instead of black.
