G.I. Joe Toys on Sale

I can go for another set of Valkyries.

I was a little disappointed when I saw Sarge/Mercer shipped on Saturday. I may have canceled to hold out for sale had I remembered they survived one of my earlier preorder purges. As usual, I like them better in-hand and didn't mind not waiting for a discount. I think Sarge looks kind of dapper wearing the beret with whistle head sculpt and Mercer's gritting teeth sculpt remind me of someone Sarge may have met at Verne Gagne's Barn in the 1970's.

You always have to go with the classic look first, but I almost like this Sarge better.

*I just realized I digressed into thoughts about SGT. Slaughter in the "Sales" thread.

I'm kinda glad I missed the Valkyrie sale. I would never have been able to resist that and I do not need more Valkyries. I would like them, but don't need them. I need lady Vipers, along with Chameleon, Munitia, Crimson Asp, and Raven please.

I have never had luck finding ANYTHING at Ross. Even when 20 people comment on finding things. Even when visiting multiple stores. Ah grumble, grumble, mutter and fuss. :)
Same. Jackshit at Ross & Ollie's. Really hate seeing that other people in other states find actual good stuff.

Why? I get it's frustrating, but to hate other collectors because they happened to be there at the right time? Nah. I missed the $6 Crimson Guards at Ollie's a couple years ago, and yeah I was bummed, but not actually angry at someone I've never even met (even though it was probably that damn local guy, Newt). I don't know, maybe I'm not as invested as others are.

But yeah I get it's a bummer missing out on deals but breathe. Collecting should be a source of not-rage.

Newt was the guy who I'd see at all the old "release" events. He was a big Hot Wheels guy, but also horned in on my turf to fuel his eBay page. When the Classified Cobra Island Vipers dropped, there were a three of us (including Newt) at Target that morning, and we each got one. The employee put the last one on the pegs, and he wandered over and grabbed it. I checked later, and both were on his page. I would see him in the mornings in his car before Target would open, and I'd walk up and wait at the door....and he'd drive off. I didn't know a 5'7" fat Irish guy was that intimidating.

I don't hate Newt, but I do get frustrated with him at times....though I think he's retired now.

Good. Man, I mean, obviously it's a bummer when someone gets a deal you'd like, but such a kick directly in the asshole when it's a guy who is just gonna flip it like that. Yes I sell things constantly, usually stuff I've enjoyed for a while and try to do fair pricing (almost always the cheapest listing), but once in a while I'll have something I bought six months ago and haven't opened yet and it's too late to return so I'll sell it, and it's now sold out so the value has gone up, but I'm STILL the cheapest listing. But it's also always something I'm into, you know? It's something I did want at least at some point and didn't buy just to sell, let alone from a line I am not into just to sell. but, eh, we all have our little rules to make ourselves feel better, heh heh.

I don't think he is angry at other people in other states. If you look at what he wrote it seems he is more pissed about the availability of stock for collectors in other states, not the collectors themselves. Which I can follow being in Canada and seeing all the sweet deals you guys get from places like Ollies, etc.

I wouldn't say I hate it per se, but I definitely don't like seeing those great deals while here in Canada we either don't see stuff that you guys see go on clearance super quick, or we never see the deep discounts you do. Thankfully that has improved a bit for us in Canada and some great deals can be had from time to time. Now we just need a big chain discount outlet to really help instead of hoping for local liquidators, or dollar store chains.

Where I am in California, I'm kinda used to it. People will post INCREDIBLE clearance prices at target, and no target near me has ever had anything close to those prices in all my years of collecting. It's a big fat oh-well for me and knowing that saves me on gas money. And that's the real savings these days.

Yeah we have had some crazy stuff happen up here from time to time. The big one was for a year or two Walmart Canada would have stuff still on the shelves that was supposed to be removed because it was no longer for sale. If you tried to buy them at the cash register they would not sell it to you so people learned to go to the self checkout and scan them in the middle of their order so no one noticed (mostly). The price? $0.02. I managed to snag (2x) Masterverse Battle Cat and Origins Wind raider (2x) for $0.02 each. The Toy Tuber Mega Jay Retro posted a video where he managed to get 3 Origins Castle Grayskull for $0.02 each!!!!

Unfortunately Walmart caught on eventually and that hasn't happened in some time. However they have at least, from time to time, put stuff on real clearance (not their stupid clearance price which is only a couple dollars below retail). So I have found some things recently for $1-$3.

Yet that is the exception, not the rule like it seems to be with Target. Target seems to put stuff on clearance all the time.
