Zarana's self-awareness is my favorite part of all that.
I kinda hope they do. Something about how I thought they were kinda just gross canon fodder as a kid and now I see themDo the Dreadnoks have the most compelling narrative in Disavowed? If they don't, they're a very close runner up, that's for sure.
I don't know why but Zarana has become one of my favorite voices to write in this series. I think I see some storytelling genetic lineage between her and Jack in Mass Effect who is one of my all-time favorite characters, too. Like, she's a dangerous train wreck, but she's THIS CLOSE to figuring it all out.Zarana's self-awareness is my favorite part of all that.
It's funny how these cards work out - if I hadn't done the Hydros first she might have been the proto-Hydro-Viper, but now that we know they were created by exposure to some supernatural element, she's the test subject as Mindbender tries to REPLICATE that mutation with science, so technically? She's maybe still a proto HV?Alright, there's a lot. My first thought when I saw who it was about was "oh!!! She was kinda a proto-hydro viper". You know as much as I always enjoy the classic Joes, I'm such a fan of when you go after the expanded characters, the ones without any figures ever, and this has to be among the best.
I love tying not only Mindbender into this but Rottclaw too. Building a squad of mad scientists! And I love love love that Shipwreck did a commentary. Was this his first? It's so fitting. And it was just perfect. Just perfect. And was it purposeful that he wishes he was a diver with how his later figure was a diver? Outstanding foreshadowing, and knowing he becomes a diver was fucking beautiful. Reminds me of Kyle Reese always wondering what Sarah Connor was thinking about in the picture John gave him.... And it was Kyle Reese all along! Hector became a diver... For her!
Shot our way in and blew our way out, awesome. And that's not even a navy/blowjob joke!
I know it's a silly fan fic project, but trying to find the core of a character who only got two paragraphs and a birthplace on the back of a toy has been super fun.I think that's been my favorite aspect as well. You've made joke characters into complex, interesting people I actually want to know more about. Heck, you've fleshed out many who are barely even characters to begin with!
If I'm writing the story, I get to decide this dickhead did NOT kill like three of my favorite characters! But I am perfectly happy to make him a brutal murderer.Awesome, and still doing a great job of merging versions/cards! The best part is of course Doc lives!
