G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

Airborne being First Nations but also coming from MONEY is an interesting angle I think - he's a Joe, yeah, but he's got fuck-you family money. I think I'm bumping him up the list. Spirit I could see becoming basically a cryptid. Yeah, they're getting prioritized for writeups tonight.
Right, I assume Hama purposely put those two at opposite ends of the spectrum. There was a Native woman I used to know who would call Indigenous people who tried to 'be white' radishes.

That is SUCH a targeted insult, too. Red on the outside is so brutal in addressing the historic bigotry they face.

Parsing out how I'd write these two in this alternate universe, and how there's no way they're friends. Spirit doesn't hate Airborne, I don't think Spirit hates anyone, but I think there's a quiet distance he treats Airborne because of his parents are SPECIFICALLY "oil rich" - is there a more white man's wealth thing than being oil rich in America? - and that quiet distance and lack of warmth silently chaps Airborne's ass. I also think Airborne is himself too dignified to be petty about it out loud but you know they both at some point have silently in their heads said "THIS motherfucker" about the other one, Spirit because Airborne has oil money and privilege and Airborne because Spirit leans in so hard into what might be perceived as Hollywood stereotypes.

I should save this for the cards, but I don't think there's room in a standard Joes bio card to get into "these guys lived VERY different experiences and it sets them at odds personally, even while they would die to protect the other as a teammate and ally."

I have a weird one actually... Stilleto. I have barely read up on her, but apparently she was a character that was part of a kindle contest or something? But she did get a figure. She is fiercely loyal to Cobra Commander, but infiltrated the Joes. I don't know if you can do anything with that, but wanted it in your head to see if it sprouts.

Oh man, Stalker will definitely be my next one, great suggestions. I don't know enough about Bombstrike so I'll have to do some digging on her backstory to do her justice, that one might take a little longer.
One of my favourite things when they do a dystopic flip on X-Men or whatever is when they sideline some of the big guns and bring the obscure characters to the forefront. So I initially wanted to do Jinx and even Baroness (maybe she defected? Played sides?) But I thought bringing up Bombstrike would be a cool chance for her and you to shine.

Yeah, I really want to do a bunch of side characters and not totally focus on the big names. Bombstrike is a very funny complete black hole in my lore knowledge but this is a good excuse to read up on her.

You just made me really frustrated that we don't have Scoop or Psyche-Out yet in classified. Picking the journalist for this series? Damned good pick.

Stiletto is another blank slate for me. I think I need to do some IDW reading soon.

I just figured out what Torpedo is up to...

Big fat agreement. Those can be solid gold. Really, I guess, any of them can be if you can tap into a compelling reaction and path for them in these circumstances, which you are great at.

That's the thing, I don't think she's even in the comics at all.

"Stiletto first appeared in Bill Nedrow's G.I. Joe: Body Count. She was one of four characters selected to be a part of Hasbro's first Kindle Worlds Fan Poll (alongside Jim Beard's Marcus, Troy Osgood's Blackjack, and Justin Bell's Whisper). Initial art of the character was drawn by artist Josh Schultz, and art by Robert Atkins was shown at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2015, when the contest was formally announced.

She was revealed to have won in an article on Hasbro's Pulse on November 20, 2015, and the same website provided an update on the character's development on May 24, 2016. The figure was first shown off at JoeCon in Colorado on June 18, 2016.

In addition to Body Count, she has appeared in G.I. Joe: Dishonor Thy Father and G.I. Joe Legacy: Stiletto. G.I. Joe Legacy was a four-part series written in round-robin fashion by the four authors whose characters were included in the Kindle Worlds Fan Poll."

I just figured out what Torpedo is up to...
