G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

Oh man, Stalker will definitely be my next one, great suggestions. I don't know enough about Bombstrike so I'll have to do some digging on her backstory to do her justice, that one might take a little longer.
I'm no expert, but she has two brothers; one is a Joe and one is a Cobra, so that right there is some meat, but of course she is more than 'the bad guy's sister'.

These are so wonderful, Doc.

I am having TOO much fun writing them. Basically I'm doing my best to try to channel Larry. Which is something I've always done as a writer anyway.

I think I gotta do Footloose soon too. I always loved how he's just a Lost Boy. What does a Lost Boy do when the thing that finally gave him purpose goes away?

That is awesome! I love reading them. I assume you're saving these somewhere this time?

Right, in a sense, you've been heading directly toward this destination all along.

I've got a running file I'm writing them into then posting them here one at a time.

Gonna see if I have the brain power to do Stalker's card tonight. I have ideas about how a collapsing America might force him to look back on what his live experiences for forming a resistance.

Code Name: Stalker (Disavowed)
File Name: Wilkinson, Lonzo R.
Primary Military Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Military Specialty: Medic/Interpreter
Birthplace: Detroit, Michigan
Grade: E-5

One of the original GI Joe operatives, subject was quick to make a move after the Lewis election, dropping off the grid before even some of the top brass. Prior to enlistment, Stalker was a warlord in a large urban street gang; the unanticipated side effect of this is that he was ready to begin organizing against the new administration rapidly, bridging the gap between veterans of the military and veterans of the street. Current whereabouts unknown.

From the desk of General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy: "I should have listened to Stalker sooner. He knew what was happening long before I did and he warned me, but I had too much faith in America, too much faith in Americans. 'With all due respect, sir,' he said to me in one of our last conversations before all hell broke loose, 'you grew up in a time and place where you could afford hope. For the rest of us, this is just the next step in a logical progression of events.' He retired on election night and started organizing. I hope we live long enough I can buy him a beer and he can tell me 'I told you so.'"

I... needed this. Thank you @docsilence
I'm having WAY too much of a cathartic time writing these - feels like redeeming characters I have trouble squaring the circle with in the real world. Trying to decide who to do next. Maybe Spirit? I feel like Tunnel Rat would be fun to do, too. Or some Cobra folks.

Would you believe me if I said I did that by accident? But now that it's in print, it does feel like something Mercer would say.

Yeah, I think go with those two! With Cobras, if it was me, I think I would have a hard time not just plowing through them once I started so I would hold the off as long as possible. BUT, writing them may inform some of the Joe side going forward....

That's a really good point, and an angle I wouldn't mind getting explored. Definitely plenty of stuff in Native communities to pull from for the last... well... dozen generations.

Airborne being First Nations but also coming from MONEY is an interesting angle I think - he's a Joe, yeah, but he's got fuck-you family money. I think I'm bumping him up the list. Spirit I could see becoming basically a cryptid. Yeah, they're getting prioritized for writeups tonight.
