G.I. Joe Classified Series

I was forced to give away the four figures I took on a trip to the Philippines to one of my cousins. Nothing in return, just my mom insisting I give them because he liked them. Leatherneck, Lady Jaye, and the Crimson Twins. I eventually replaced Lady Jaye in my collection but not the others.

I got hand me downs of Zartan and Stormshadow, each with zero weapons. I don’t think an exchange happed there either, though maybe Stormshadow was gotten in exchange for a MotU figure.
That's actually kind of infuriating. Not to say a parent can't have their reasons, but I've seen stuff like this mentioned before and it's always so weird to me. I'm a pretty generous person and I do not buy toys for my kids just so they can hand them off to someone else immediately. I guess the bright side is now you can have even better versions of all those figures in Classified and no one can make you give them away except maybe your SO?

One of my strongest G.I. Joe memories is when a neighbor who was older than me sold his entire Joe collection at his family's yard sale. He lived across the street, so I would run over with my money and buy Joes and accessories by the ziploc bag, then run home and ask my parents for more money and run back again. I must have made 3 or 4 trips before my parents said no more money. Haha. That's how I got the majority of my pre-'87 Joes.

Well, I love my mom so I did as I was told. The logic was that my cousins didn’t have access to things we had access to and it was important to share. My mom was the first of her 6 siblings to go to the states, and when she got a job, she did it to send money home. Those toys were replaceable. It bummed me out at the time, but I considered it a gift.

Nah, that's the best reason I've ever heard and your mom sounds like an excellent lady.

Usually it's "you have army men at home" and that's that. Which, still, is fair. But also come on.

I've really gotta get some outdoor style backdrops. I rediscovered the joy of photographing figures last weekend but all my are man-made structures (got urban, outer rim, science base, and castle). I really need forest, blue sky, and jungle to work with.

That is devastating! What in the actual Hell NORM? Your Mom just made you kindly and charitably give away your GI Joes to your cousin?

That is appalling! There is no room for that kind of kindness.

I was such a good, well-behaved kid. And my parents were and are such amazingly good parents. But if they had told me to give away my GI Joes to one of my cousins....... We would have thrown hands!

Are you alright?

By way of childhood GI Joe heartbreak, I knew I was no longer the favorite kid when my younger brother came home from the mall with my mom SPECIFICALLY with Fast-Draw, the one figure I really wanted. I distinctly remember going: oh, he gets the GI Joes now. I am old and on my own. (I was like, eight or nine.) Mind you to this day we still joke he's mom's favorite, and he still says that it's possible to have a middle child in a family of four and he's the least favorite. (We all get along, but it's that Massachusetts showing-love-through-being-mean tradition.) We're in our forties and yesterday my dad told my brother's kids I'm smarter than their dad is and I swear he just did it to throw cat amongst pigeons.

Unbelievable. Your Mom just took your little brother out and bought him the GI Joe you wanted? And she didn't bring you home anything? It's like she was trying to provoke you. Had you done anything to p*** your mom off docsilence? Or was it a preemptive strike?

To buy your little brother the GI Joe you wanted out of the kindness of her heart like that......... disgraceful! These blatant acts of charity and kindness from you and NORM's Mom is unforgivable. It's no wonder the world is in the state it's in.

Another reason my parents were good. They had the wherewithal to have only one child :)

lol! We really need new Joes 😂 😂

There's a LOT we have on pre-order. Kind of a ridiculous amount. What are you looking forward to most?

I'm probably looking forward to Blowtorch and Monkeywrench the most. And really looking forward to the AWE Striker and Slice/Dice whenever those go up for order.

Footloose, Law & Order, retro Flint, Cover Girl are probably my most wanted right now. Really looking forward to Monkeywrench and Armored CoCo too.

Retro Flint and retro Cover Girl are by far the two I'm looking forward to the most. Way back when 40 uears ago Flint WAS G,I, Joe for me. He was by far my favorite. Stalker, Roadblock and Snow Job were all cool, but Flint was cooler and was definitely in charge.

And I love the look of that retro Cover Girl a lot. Stoked for both of those.

Of course the truest answer is the Polar Bear. I want to army build the Polar Bear...

I'm pretty much set with the characters I have interest in, so the only Joes I have on PO are CC and Monkey Wrench.

I am excited about all of it! All of the stuff on pre order right now is gold.

I'm most excited about the Retro Card Waves, Snake Eyes V.4, Battle Armor Cobra Commander, Law and Order, and Heavy Duty.

Then for things that aren't up for pre order yet, the AWE Striker and Slice and Dice 2 Pack.

I don't get every vehicle, but the AWE Striker will be purchased by this Super Camel.
