G.I. Joe Classified Series

Well after emailing Hasbro inquiring (nicely!) about why my Rattler hasn't shipped yet I suddenly got a shipping notice. What a coincidence.
Nice! Glad you got that shipping notice. When it's a Haslab/crowdfund item it really makes you nervous when you don't get your shipping notice. Especially when other people have the item in hand.

Yeah I saw someone on Facebook had said Hasbro CS told them they'd be shipping into 2026. Don't know how true that is but I sure didn't want to wait that long.

Got my v4 Snake Eyes today. He's okay. Fun figure plagued with terrible design decisions. I was playing with 01 Snake Eyes last night and this new release, five years later, isn't nearly as well-designed in terms of articulation and gear.

Still, Snake Eyes is the man, and I'll customize this guy until I'm happy. Right now my biggest annoyance is how every time he crunches, the back of the vest pops outwards and pushes his backpack off. So for now he's just going swordless.

Here's a genuine question: is v4 Snake Eyes' SMG holster the worst-designed part of any Classified product so far?

I like the base figure but yeah, that holster is the only time in recent memory I've been like: I am NEVER using this.

Based just on reviews, since I don't have him: I don't think the part is poorly designed. I think it accomplishes what it needed to given the limitations. So I suppose it's actually a -decent- design? It's just a stupid fucking IDEA, because you don't use a leg holster for a fucking SMG - that's idiotic. So they created the best solution they could to the world's stupidest problem.

It doesn't even close on the back side. it's got three of four sides. what you're talking about is Law's holster, which is functionally great.

I'm reminded of those crappy cheap folders my parents used to buy me for elementary school that didn't have pockets but side flaps and everything fell out constantly.

I don't think Law's holster will store the MP5, though, right? Like I said, this was a solution to a problem they created by wanting that specific gun to store on his leg... for some fucking reason.

If it were stronger material it'd work at least functionally (he's a cartoon ninja, I don't worry about realism). Many of the other holsters and sheaths are made of sturdier plastic but this feels like the suggestion of a holster. I think the thing that gets me about it is I feel like almost every other element meant to let a figure store his weaponry in this line works remarkably well, like I feel like I could leave most of them fully geared up on the shelf no worries. This one case they used material so flimsy I could see it stretching out and failing over time.

Oh, one thing that bummed me out about armored CoCo is his shoulder armor. They’re attached at one point at the top of the shoulder sockets. But they’re fixed at that point. The armor doesn’t rotate with the shoulder (like newer Wolverine figures). They stay in place though move up (like poorly designed Iron Man armors).

If I had to guess, I think it's about the construction. I don't think any of the other holsters are completely open on one side and are designed to kind of... squeeze the item in place with just friction. Most of the weapons slide down into a holster. If you look at a figure like, say, Han Solo; his holsters are usually fairly sturdy, but the flap that goes on top of the blaster is way flimsier and softer (accomplished by just making the material thinner there). I'm guessing that's safety standards - the part that has to be able to bend back and forth a thousand times without breaking off needs to be .. flimsier (softer).. so it doesn't stress from the movement.

Similar reason to why, I believe, Joe (and Marvel) accessories tend to be on the softer side; they won't SNAP that way and therefore they're able to pass safety testing at a higher standard.

For some reason they also did this with Law's belt where it holds the extra set of hand-cuffs. That whole pouch is really soft and kind of peels open and just holds the cuffs by friction. The cuffs are just lighter so it doesn't really matter.

In short; if you want SE's holster design to remain the same but be sturdier, you have to increase the wall thickness, so it would immediately become even bulkier. Additionally, that'll actually make it more susceptible to stress damage by actually using it, and then you end up with a little flap of plastic that eventually just breaks off. So.. probably wouldn't pass safety testing.

Just my best guess on the 'why' based on what I have learned over the years about all of these processes.

Yeah the better decision would have been a removable front grip if they insisted on using this weapon. Or add a buckle on the back side like Law's pistol holster on his vest.

Ultimately, you can argue it was like three or four bad decisions just to get to the point where that travesty of a holster exists. Like I said; it's possibly as good a solution as you can get for the problem; the problem is just entirely self-inflicted and ridiculous.

I got Snake Eyes and Timber V1 today. I wasn't really interested in the SE, but Timber I wanted both versions of. Im probably gonna end up just buying the white one off ebay. I don't want the SE that comes in that set. It'd be cheaper just to get the Wolf. That being said, I really like this SE figure. It looks a little bulky, but I think alot of that is the webgear. I also swapped his right hand with the og because of the up/down hinge. I already bought him a sword too, but it doesn't like to stay in his back. I think this SE has a bigger back hole. I tried to fill it in a little, but the sheath still pops out if you move it too much or jar it. His knife sheath is also fricken huge. I wonder how he gets in his pockets with those attachments on his sides. But for some reason, I just really like this design. Even the worst of the Joe figures have been better then some of the other shit Hasbro has been putting out. I'm tempted to get SE4 that just came out if I can, because it looks alot like this one. I will probably change a few of his attachments though if I do. I also really love this Timber. Hasbro is killing it with the animal figures lately. Hence why I want the white Timber as well. I'm tempted to just buy a few of the animals off Ebay honestly. They are really cool.

If I see Crystal Ball I'll probably buy him just cause he looks fuckin awesome. And put the Cthulu head on him. I love the weird characters in this line. Ninjas, hot girls, and crazy weird characters are what I'm here for. Oh and of course, the animals. I have some of the "army men" characters but they aren't as interesting to me. And I only get some of the bigger names. Falcon, Duke, Flint. I'll eventually get a Spirit Iron Knife and maybe a couple others, but I won't be getting most of the B list and lower normies.
