G.I. Joe Classified Series

I'll admit that my first priority is always going to be the stuff I had and loved as a kid, and that includes vanishingly few female characters (I don't think I owned a Baroness, even, until I was an adult). So my interest in more female characters is more about mixing up my display and having a bit more representation there, than actually wanting certain characters.

That being said, I will take a proper Ninja Force Scarlett RIGHT NOW.

Went looking for the Walmart rack this morning at two stores that, based on the WM app and website, should have had it (showing all the FF figures, Stinger, etc as 'in stock'). Nada at either store.

Re Snake v3 - they did make the knives removable for the 25th version but it was kind of a pain and they didn’t sit well generally. Be careful what you wish for…
That's definitely one way they could do it, and it might work better at this scale, BUT I'd rather they do sheaths. Even though they'll always be put away, I still would like that. We do have some sculpted accessories as opposed to removable, like grenades and such, and honestly I'd rather have sculpted butterfly swords on Snake Eyes V3 than no Snake Eyes V3 at all.
The lack of female characters releases in the near future (I can only think of Pythona?) is starting to stall my enjoyment of collecting this line, to be honest. The figures are great, but I think ML and TBS have spoiled me in regards to expecting at least 1 or 2 female characters per wave.
I don't know about now, but yeah, come on, even Todd McFarlane had a female in every wave back in the original Spawn series days. (As well as Wetworks and his Total Chaos line.
I understand there aren't a lot of those in GI Joe, but there's still a bunch they could make.

And yeah, putting them as a tier in a Haslab doens't work for me.
Agreed on the Haslab. It's neat for the haslab people, but I would like Glenda and the Hiss Gunner. And the pilot Baroness would be a new character for me.

But yeah, as far as the original line goes (where almost every year did have a female character included), they've done a pretty good job of getting them covered. Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Cover Girl, Baroness, Zarana, Jinx, and even Shooter. We also got Helix obviously, and I did get two Marines to be distinct characters. Quarrel and Glenda are awesome additions too, and I appreciate how distinct Classified made them as characters.

But diving into all the Joe stuff across the years, there's of course GI Jane, but also Bombstrike, Mistress Armada, Mara, Daina, Mayday, Black Hat, Munitia, Chameleon (IDW), Chameleon II (IDW), Chameleon (Energon), Feedback, Red Scream, Dawn Moreno, Copperback (IDW), Dial Tone, Overkill (Energon, though she's apparently not been physically shown), Doc, Firewall, Zanya, Dr. Adele Burkhart, Stiletto, Junko Akita (Devil's Due), Vill (Energon), Solila (Energon), Hashtag, Stanley, Heart-Wrencher, Marissa Faireborn, and Dela Eden. And if you want to go beyond the more actiony ones, there's people like Dr. Biggles Jones.
Jinx's yellow/black movie suit is hella cool
Yes, I would definitely get that figure, even if they can't/don't do an unmasked head.
We've gotten Quarrel and Glenda already so how about Sparta too?
She seems pretty likely after those two.
Ultimately though, it would be nice if they introduced a new one every now and then that wasn't just an army builder.
Agreed, and there's always all new/never before seen characters like Wolf Spider. That's possibly the most exciting avenue for me with this line. Yeah, cover the originals, please, but now and then stretch your creativity in a new direction and give us characters never done before at all.

The modern era v3 Snake-Eyes removable knives were not handled well: one had a peg on the blade that went through a hole in the other blade into a hole in the torso, “pinning” the blade to the chest. Not only was this awkward, but also it resulted in one knife’s blade being wrecked by the big pin sticking out of the side.
However, at Classified scale and with the current team’s eye for workable innovation, I think we will have no trouble with functional and removable knives for Classified v3 Snake-Eyes. In fact: I’m counting on it.

Was the actual stock out on the shelves and just not in a focused display? Or was there no stock as well? Which would mean they probably haven't gotten around to making the display.

BUT I'd rather they do sheaths.
Dear God No.
Classified sheaths/scabbards are WAY too thick and bulky. Shoving two of them, to allow for stacked knives, across a character's chest would fucking suuuuuuuuuuuck.

They would have to cheat it and have a custom torso so the sheaths appear to be proper size but the blades actually partly go into his chest as well. The trickier part, to me, is having the blades slide in without bumping into each other and dulling the tip of one of them and/or warping the middle of the blade where they cross. But again, I'd be okay with molded butterfly swords.

If I had my way and were designing the line....

v3 SE would have swappable front chest flaps - like Black Series Jedi Luke. One with the knives molded on, and one without them there. That way you can choose to display him with them on his chest or in his hands and it always makes sense and doesn't interrupt the functionality of the figure.

I didn't find anything either. I went to the store I thought would be my best chance because they carry Motu and Joes and they have a permanent island display in toys. It was completely empty except for the doll portion on the endcap. The tags from the previous toys were still up. This store is only 20 miles, but I hate going during the work week, so I usually stick to weekend trips. I'm sure all the good stuff will have been put out and sold by next Saturday.

Not my picture, but this is the doll display:

Also not my picture, this is the Wal-Mart assembly instructions for the Mattel side:

Isn't selling the Stinger at retail a terrible idea at this point?

That would be a great way to do it.

Yeah between Psylocke and the Savage Land set, I've been crawling back to MLs to get my female figure fix. Have I even bought a single female Classified this year? They've all been vehicle pack-ins. Just waiting on Cover Girl.

My Joe shelves are such sausage fests. Tiger Force is afraid of girls. I'm looking at the good guys and I have Jaye, Scarlett, Helix, Jynx, Marine Sniper, Shooter, and Joan Rivers. I outright refuse to write out all the male characters because I'd be here for an hour. And it's so sad because a lot of those female figures are amazing! Zarana, Scarlett, female Cobra Trooper & Shooter are some of my favorite figs in the whole line.

Haslabs aren't helping. We're going to lock Baroness and Lady Jaye improvements behind $325 paywalls now? Three years is a long time to wait between releases. I gotta wait until there's a new president to get a new Baroness?

On the other hand:
They locked the new Baroness behind a paywall, yes, but not in the iconic colors of that sculpt. Pilot Baroness is *clearly* a “pre-paint” of MASS Device/early comics Baroness, down to the waffle-pattern sculpted into her waist and shoulders. The most-desirable version of nuBaroness will likely be available at retail, sooner than later.

Absolute dream set for me. When the line started, I figured with the modern redesigns that everyone was getting, that something like this would never happen. It’s an absolutely silly premise that’s very of its era, but it’s one of my favorite episodes of the original series. But here we are five years later and everything’s shifted retro and what was my most wanted set actually happened.

I hope you're right! If they can release Retro CoCo so soon after Mickey Mouse CoCo, it's entirely possible. I do wonder with Lady Jaye if they'll give her another shot. After saturating the market with the first two versions, they might be slow to give us another. Part of me thinks the Snow CAT tier is really the only chance of getting an updated or "Sunbow" Lady Jaye head anytime soon.

I think... as far as new releases (because I was still catching up on past figures for much of this year, so I got stuff like retro Scarlett and Helix), the only one I may have gotten this year was the CLAW pilot. Whom I love. I was a big fan of the Valkyrie figures and they made a version that's even cooler.

Lady Jaye seems like a great candidate for that, but also maybe an original character. I know Wreckage wasn't genuinely original for Classified, but maybe someone along those lines for the ladies. I wouldn't even mind if they gender swapped ala Doc and Dial Tone for someone in Tiger Force.
Joan Rivers.
