G.I. Joe Classified Series

I've no time for Cobra-La but even I will admit that Pythona looks pretty cool, especially her cloak and the snarling head.

In other news, I nabbed a Cold Slither set, mainly out of some forlorn hope it will inspire them to do a Classified scale Misfits set at some point. Look, I can dream, right?

I mostly watch YouTube while working out. There's some history and linguistics channels I follow, for example. And even then... that's only if I'm not just listening to music - which is more typical. However, and the reason I'm posting at all, I got weirdly into watching Hasbro's 24-hour feed of the Joe cartoon while I was working out the other day. I got in extra reps because I forgot what I was even doing.
I think in the past year, or so, I have watched all those episodes so many times I am a little burnt out on watching them. I wish they had post "Arise Serpentor, Arise" episodes on a 24hour loop instead of having to actually watch each episode. I like just checking in from time to time to see what is playing. Even though I am a bit burnt out on the early stuff, I like just putting it on and getting a kick out of being just in time for a favourite episode.

Heh, I was literally just looking up the best place to watch Lair of the White Worm.

I run every day but try to get outside as often as I can, during which I listen to some D&D podcasts or audiodramas (favorites right now are Eldritch Lorecast, Words Without Number, and Old Gods of Appalachia) but on the treadmill I've usually got one long show I"m overdue to watch as my mainstay and then I'll throw in a shorter thing in between long commitments. Black Sails now, but I did an Alien and Predator film rewatch for both series before that, and before THAT I did a Babylon 5 rewatch. The long ones are funny because I end up sometimes not finishing before they switch streaming services. Got through Vikings, Expanse, Last Kingdom an hour at a time running. I find I need something dramatic/action oriented and not comedy-focused to really forget I'm running in place and going nowhere for an hour.

I think Yellowjackets is up next, but I might, to stay on them with this thread, sneak in the second Joes miniseries as a one-off in between shows. I'm halfway through S3 of Black Sails so I gotta start thinking about the next one. Farscape is also on the docket.

Man, the more I look at Pythona and compare her to Nemesis the more I'm loving the creeping eldritch horror aspect of Cobra-La they're doing with these. Keep it up, team, looking good.

It's funny, I feel that way too. I've never really liked the Cobra-La aspect of GI Joe. Yet, I LOVE Serpentor. But to me Serpentor is the Emperor. The secret ruler and only one above Cobra Commander.

But that Pythona figure does look cool. I love the colors. But she is a pass for me which is nice. A little money saved.

Yeah I think Lenny really shines with the "Metal" and horror adjacent type of characters. He clearly likes those genres and seems to get a bit more out of figures that lean more in that direction. It really makes the line that little bit more fun. Really if someone had told you early on that they would make Raptor and Crystal Ball pretty cool looking figures, and figures fans seem to like more than the originals, would you have believed them?

That's why I like the IDW cult leader version of Serpentor, he's almost a separate thing from CC (from what I gathered, with the Coil cult) since CC will always be THE leader of Cobra for me. I totally respect anyone who sees Serpentor as above that though. He's practically almost a Conan villain, which I like a lot.

Speaking of him... I'm still violently kicking myself for skipping Serpentor and his air chariot even when I could have had them for a very reasonable price at EB Games.

Are you saying Chip "Raptor" Talon wasn't cool in the old days? :) But yeah, Crystal Ball as some creepy Cthulian horror is a rad idea. I really hope Walmart decides to actually ship that effin figure some day.

Probably fair of you to do so. They've gotta do a retro of him or something right? A basic release with just the figure?

Maybe. But I want the air chariot too. He came out right when I was convincing myself I was going to stop buying Joes because they weren't making enough of them in the more classic ARAH way that I liked and I needed to save money somewhere.

That's good reasoning though. Cease with the kicking!

Hasbro Pulse back up to it's usual weird tricks. I just placed a big GI Joe Classified pre order of items I hadn't pre'd yet, and it wouldn't let me checkout regularly. But, whenever that happens it seems you can always use PayPal and that works, so that's what I did.

I wish Dial Tone would come in at BBTS. I still have him pre ordered there.

But I'm all caught up on pre orders now and ready to see the new stuff and pre order it. bring it Hasbro.

Pythona looks amazing! She looks to have all the wacky weapons and abilities that she uses in the infiltration scene. Very cool.

Really need Royal Guards and Golobulus now!

I mean the Royal Guards are all but a certainty right? I mean the Classified team clearly has the green light to make molds with limited reuse potential so the Royal Guards shouldn't be a problem. I could see them being an exclusive like Nemesis Immortal and Pythona for next year.

Golobulus might be a bit trickier. I still think he will get made, it is just how he is made that might be tricky. Personally I would want a complete load out for Golobulus. Articulated tail, floating ball, accessories, etc. If they were to only release him and not his "chariot" I would be bummed, but I would still get him. I'm just not sure what the price point for him would be, and if they can pull off his look in the "chariot" as a whole, or if they would need to have him detach from his tail so he could fit in the ball. Also would that be a cop out, or just a necessity?
