G.I. Joe Classified Series

I want that version of Spirit in a big way. Less eager for another Recondo, but I'd buy him in that look. But the Pursuit of Cobra Shipwreck is something I want desperately. So, big yes from me on getting to some POC looks

This is something I spend probably too much thought on, but the best answer is "they need to start bringing some POC designs in already goddamnit" because of course those versions of Spirit and Recondo are good to go.

My overthinking brain is like "Blain has Recondo's hat, Gung-Ho's body type, and Roadblock's gear and I can't square the circle on that."

Billy is of course Spirit. Maybe Hawkins is Breaker since he handles comms? Carl Weathers has Stalker vibes but Dillon is kinda Chuckles I guess. I suppose Mac could be Roadblock, but his attitude feels more Beachhead to me, the whole efficient, scary, and angry thing. There isn't a Dutch equivalent that sticks out in my mind though maybe a pre-General Hawk but in a bigger body. And Poncho could be almost anyone. The actor feels like Flint to me but the character is maybe Grunt.

Anyway, this is what MY brain is doing on a Friday afternoon. Super efficient, I am.

I really like the POC Billy (from Predator)...sorry...Spirit. As well as Jungle Duke. I'd like to see some environmental-themed variants of Joes (and Cobras). We've gotten desert Snake-Eyes, but making environmental variants is a good way of getting popular characters out again.
Desert Snake Eyes and Dusty are desperately in need of backup. And Snow Job is downright lonely. More environmental themed figures would be amazing.

Yes, all the Predator homages (we already have Shadow Tracker, aka the Predator), as well as Jungle Duke aka “Space Marine” Duke, and Bruce Lee tracksuit/gi Quick Kick, and also City Strike Firefly aka alt-Alien gear Firefly would all be amazing to have in Classified.
Ooh and Jungle BAT.

Completely agreed. I did a custom for Shipwreck that was emulating that, but would probably still get that figure if they made him. The beanie I got is the only fabric part on my classified shelves.

haw! you're coming at it from a different way than I would. (Trivia in case you don't know, Hawkins was played by Shane Black, who was primarily a writer. he was on set to help with any plot stuff as they filmed since it wasn't entirely locked down yet. Black wrote Lethal Weapon, Long Kiss Goodnight, Last Boy Scout, made Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, and The Predator.)

But I'd like figures like the POC guys who clearly resemble the movie cast, so someone dressed like Hawkins with glasses would be cool, even if he's the least cool member.

Jungle Duke may be the coolest Duke figure ever. But yeah, I'd love if they went more of a POC style for some waves and had a Jungle theme, a Desert them, Arctic them, etc.

Also, if Classified only ever does one figure emulating a Predator character (after Shadow Tracker I mean), then it's gotta be Billy. Yes, he played a high school girl-enthusiast construction worker in Poltergeist, and yes he probably wasn't acting all that much as psychopath Billy Bear in 48 Hours, and finally yes the studio hired a body guard to follow him around while filming Predator to protect everyone else from him, but Landham's performance as Billy in Predator is unquestionably badass and he needs a GI Joe figure more than another Sgt. Slaughter.

Yeah, Billy-Spirit is much cooler than the “secret agent in black bodysuit but still fringe on his boots” thing Devil’s Due comics tried to do.

Speaking of Devil’s Due: THAT is the Shipwreck we need. Navy blue beanie and combat sweater, grey dungarees, dual-slung pistol-holster harness. Pack him with a runny egg-and-mayo sandwich.

I forgot that was Shane Black. Which is funny given that I recently watched his Predator movie and just kept thinking "what the hell went wrong HERE?" Felt like the script was edited by committee. (Man, the old school filmmaking of casting a writer in a minor role so you have a writer on call to fix bad dialogue on the fly on set... been that guy, actually, but only in indie films.)

Speaking of the comms guy on the team though - I'm really looking forward to the Target Breaker cos has there been a single figure made in this line with less gear than the first Breaker? Poor dude got a bike and a helmet. Sent into battle unarmed.

I imagine it probably was. I doubt he has the juice he commanded after Lethal Weapon anymore. I still haven't watched it and feel no need to. Prey on the other hand.... amazing damned film.

Ha, that's awesome though. And I bet creatively stimulating as hell.

BBTS has a preorder for the Fans Hobby vehicle that looks suspiciously like an Awe Striker. Includes a third seat, but missile launcher sold separately.

A friend who wasn't aware the AWE Striker was up for preorder sent that listing to me asking if it was worth it and was like... not to knock a smaller vendor, but there's a literally an official one coming out for ten bucks cheaper with a figure, accessories, and predictable quality based on the VAMP/Stinger...

Some of the best creative work I ever did - had to rewrite an entire scene's dialogue on site in like, 12 degree weather in New Hampshire one day and it was a thrill, except the production ran out of money in post and never released the final product. But that's film for ya. Corpses of films dying on the vine.
