G.I. Joe Classified Series

If I'm understanding correctly, then my best advice is to get a bottle applicator with a long stem and silicone shock oil, turn the figure upside down and drip a few drops into both the front and back of the lower torso plastic in the ball joint crevice, move them a bit if you can to spread it but otherwise leave them upside-down for a day to let it soak in and spread around the joint. I don't think Classifieds can come apart at that section which makes this more difficult. LMK if you want any follow up links to applicator bottles or shock oil or info clarification.
I'm going to try that with some of my stuck Masterverse torsos, if I can remember which ones are stuck.

Yeah, there was the hysteria of thinking they were pulling a fast one on us. Hell, I wish there was more variety in heights. I suspect part of it was that THE SAW viper in the comics, that mfer, was a big bruiser.

This is the thing for me. Its not that the SAW viper was significantly tinier than other figures... but that for the SAW specifically I wanted it to be on the bigger side. Thats why him being one of the shortest Cobra troopers in the collection was disappointing.

(My head canon is Snake Eyes is deceptively unimpressive, like five foot nine, would walk right by him in the street if he weren't dressed in a knight's helmet.)

I remember this across YouTube and Insta-Facebook as well. There was a big conspiracy they were shrinking figures to save costs, and it wasn't just him that was included in the mix.

Picked up Footloose on a whim today. Dipped in EB again since I had a client meeting nearby, and they had one of him and two Darklon. Don't know that guy and he didn't look my speed, but Footloose is so Nam Classic, I had to get him just as an Army vet.

Love this loadout. Love his look. I may have been a later Sci Fi Joe fan, but I really love these grounded looks.

Exactly.

I think it was two-pronged, though, and this still applies. It was EITHER that Hasbro was intentionally shrinking figures to save money given this was a lot of new tooling, OR someone fucked up and made the figures too small and Hasbro didn't want to spend the time and money to fix it. I still believe it had to be one of these. There's no way they intended fucking -SAW VIPER-, of all characters, to be just the cutest little guy you ever did see.

The theory I'd most likely believe is the latter, that someone fucked up. I always think of my Heroclix collecting days (any survivors of the HCRealms forums here?) when a particular set came out comically small and it literally was a fuckup involving the plastic shrinking inside the molds.

Yeah. I would assume in this case it's not plastic shrinkage, but actually a problem with the scaling used to create the molds themselves. Since steel tools cost more than your car, and recutting them can take weeks (and takes time out of the factory cutting new molds for other things), I can absolutely see Hasbro looking at a 6% short on the mold size and saying 'fuck it.'

I often wonder about eating those sort of mistakes. For me, it's when any number of Hasbro characters (pick a line) have heads that just don't look right, scale wise.

I was a regular at HC Realms for years. I finished in the top 4 once and in the top 8 three times in the Regional Championships they held at Wizard World. Legitimately there was a stretch where I was one of the best Hero Clix players in the country. I probably would have won at least one or two regional championships if I would have gone the min/max route - but I hated that play style.

But anyway, yes I remember that shrunken set.

I still haunt HCRealms, hell it's my homepage on my phone, but the site and the community has wasted away since Wizkids did a huge rules overhaul in 2021. That combined with the pandemic killing a lot of local shops and the rule change coinciding with a very noticeable change in sculpt scale (funny enough clix are significantly larger nowadays) served to take the popularity of the game down to a fraction of its height, which was around 2014-2017.

I still play home games once a month and I still collect at least a CUR of every set that comes out, but I'm a plastic crack addict and don't know when to quit. I originally got into Heroclix because I couldn't afford to collect action figures at the time, and clix had an expansive selection of characters to get, many of them so obscure they still haven't been made in action figure form, and they were quite cheap. Now I collect both and am very much broke all the time lol.

Mine should be here tomorrow. I normally don't care for mustachioed figures, but really love his look for some reason.

He's outstanding. So simple and to the point, yet somehow one of their best efforts in the line, period.

Everything from the helmet fitting perfectly, to the watch, to the pants with the built-in knee pads and the way it blouses over the boots. Head sculpt and print are just so clean.

Did we ever hear when the police officer is going up for preorder? I know it got pushed but I don't think I saw to when.

I canceled Amazon preorders for Blowtorch, Darklon, and Frag Viper to stick just with BBTS, so of course my brother just texted me all three are at Target. Sigh, I'll take them 🙄

Not to derail the thread itself, but love seeing other old HCR folks on here. My claim to fame on that site was I ran that Heroclix Roleplaying Game thread which went on WAY longer than I ever expected it to. Probably the most fun I've ever had online. I always wanted to go back to doing that but like a lot of folks, my interest in the game faded after the rules change - I just got distracted, couldn't keep up, and then it felt like everything changed. I still have my old collection though boxed up with neurotic precision in case I ever want to run some old school games again.

Back on Classified though: I rewatched the first Predator movie last night and am now trying to figure out which Classified figures stand-in best for the characters and I've been obsessing about who would best stand in for who. Surprised at how while some are very obvious, some are tougher to place.

This is something I spend probably too much thought on, but the best answer is "they need to start bringing some POC designs in already goddamnit" because of course those versions of Spirit and Recondo are good to go.
