G.I. Joe Classified Series

I believe the Bridge Layer has been in the background of a few Classified packaging pics. I don't think it's an indication it's being made. They're just throwing something in the pics. A 3.75" FANG has been used several times as well. I think the FANG has a much better chance of being made, but I don't it appearing in pics is a hint.

I heard a while back that George Miller really doesn't want or approve of Mad Max merchandise. Some items like Funko Pops were made, but I think those skirted the issue some how. Funko cranks out their stuff super fast, so maybe they didn't even wait for approval. They have a really close relationship with WB, which may have also worked to their advantage. I know there were those 5poa Mad Max figures years ago as well. But there's very little merchandise made overall.

Damn. I was wondering if they've ever done something like that. Bastards.

Some recent Joe thoughts!

I hate buying more than one version of a character, and generally go for the 'classic' version where possible unless the modern version is really nicely done to my liking, or there's a special reason like Fred/Armoured CoCo, or Storm Shadow switching sides. I don't do PP/TF at all, and I only do Night Force for characters not done/likely to get another version soon. All that said, I did break said rule to get Night Force Shockwave (who looks so much better than the regular one), and while my gut reaction to the Sarge/Mercer two pack was extreme annoyance at another Sarge, I have to admit, it's pretty much the best he's *ever* looked, I really liked those promo shots.

I also ordered the AWE Striker, despite space reservations. It was always my favourite of the jeeps, and it looks wonderful for the most part (not digging the gunner's seat but hey ho).

Finally, while I didn't order one, I think the greenshirt trooper turned out surprisingly great. I kinda object to them on general principle though because I feel like GI Joe is/should be individual specialists, not random grunts (no offence to Grunt, mind).

Yeah, I definitely agree.

I like them, though, but I don’t consider them Joes. They’re like support staff/regular recruits assigned to units/places where the Joes happen to be. They mostly have no idea G.I. Joe exists, nor who all these unshaven dudes in Village People outfits actually are. Mostly they’re canon-fodder so I don’t have to “kill” named Joes.

Night Force Shockwave is amazing, agreed. I gave mine a pair of NVGs from the NF Flint two-pack (I don't use the hat), as well as extra dynamite from a spare CI Firefly, and one of those magazine slings that come with figures like Retro Snake Eyes. He's just really cool. Honestly not a big fan of the standard Shockwave, I dislike his expressionless eyes, reverse-grip shield, and he needs more yellow bits. All the blue overlays overwhelm and cover up the little yellow he has. And more than any of that, the Retro Duke legs just look much better than the CI Beach Head legs.

They said in the Livestream that the third seat comes out, presumably to give it a more traditional profile.

Boo, I disapprove of this message. You may be right, but I can dream. The Bridge Layer doesn't have to be huge and could probably be done similar to the jeep, maybe a bit more expensive but not Haslab style.

I don't recall them ever appearing in the comics.
There were chaplain’s assistants and other soldiers crewing the base the Pitt was hidden beneath, in the comics. So *technically* there were greenshirts in the books, but they definitely weren’t Joes.

To be fair some of them did have cartoons aimed at younger audiences (although whether that was a good idea is up for debate) and there was no PG-13 rating. You were PG or R.

There was a RoboCop tv show as well that was as neutered as a housecat. Just bad, bad, bad.

OK, so I’ve had the old cartoons on in the background while working out/puttering around the house for weeks, and I’m now deep in DiC. And they suck, for sure, but hot damn Cobra Commander may be at his most entertaining here, just full-tilt Yosemite Sam narcissism in his battle armor and it kinda slaps. And every time a latter-figure I owned shows up I get such a giddy jolt. One just came on that I guess jumped all the way to ECO-Warriors, and I swear to Grodd I absolutely just started shouting out the guys I saw in the credits. “Flint in his yellow suit!” “Snake-Eyes v4!!” “CESSSSSSSPOOOOOOOOOOL!!” “HOODED MUTHAFUKKIN COBRA COMMANDER!!!!!!” “NINJA FORRRRRCE!”

Bruh the ECO-Warriors are fighting giant bugs made by Cesspool’s toxic waste right now and I NEED THIS ON MY LIVING ROOM FLOOR.

Also, an absolute gem of dialogue:
Some dick in Sky Patrol: “we gotta ask ourselves what John Wayne would do.”
Other SP guy: “come on, man: he’d yell for the director to call ‘CUT’”.
Oooooooooh yeah. That’s what I’m talking about.

Anyway: let’s get those later ARAH guys!! They’re so much damn fun.

EDIT: oh man now people are turning into bug monsters!!! “Now the whole world will be as miserable and mutated as I am!!” Daaaaamn, Cesspool.

OH SHIT.

Looking at the glamour shots a few pages back, and I just came up with a goal.

I wanna make these in Classified:

PoliceFigureLineup1a.jpg

So I posted this in the Ghostbusters thread. Anyway the "Crime Mulcher" helicopter (never made) in the middle was supposedly going to be repurposed for the Ecto Glow line back in the 90s. It was going to be combined with a Louis Tully figure and be the Ecto Copter.

Fast forward to today and in the Youtube video they show a shadow image hinting heavily that they are planning on releasing the Ecto Glow, Ecto Copter with Louis Tully next year. So one unproduced Police Academy toy is getting a release, at least in some form.

Yeah, this is how I see it. You simply cannot have an operation like G.I. Joe without a pretty massive support staff, as well as Joes-in-training. Those Greenshirts might be top-of-the-top and have now come to G.I. Joe to learn the ropes and earn their code names. After all, Low-light can't be the best sniper -forever-. Someone has to take role eventually.

So the greenshirts can fill several roles between 'in training' Joes and just regular support staff that will never actually be part of the main team(s).
