G.I. Joe Classified Series

I guess I didn't know what to expect, especially since the stuff I am most excited for probably won't come until next month anyway and I knew that weeks ago.
 
In the comics, if I remember correctly, wasn't Darklon behind the idea for Python Patrol too? So weird colors seems to be his thing.
 
Such a weird cover. Zero members of Python Patrol on it. I remember thinking that when I bought it.

That cover always bugged me because Darklon's helmet sucks. Imagine if he was wearing the mask with the tongue aimed at Flint.
 
I kinda love the tongue mask because it's very gargoyle/old school gothic demonic looking. That is NOT the guy you want charging at you in battle with a sword. He's clearly unhinged.

Just got Dial Tone! He's a fricken delight. I had some trouble getting his backpack on, and I'm not in love with the holster for his cell phone but including a phone with Dial Tone is effing HILARIOUS so whatever. In any event, he's one of those "perfect level of updated for modern times but looks exactly his the old school version" iteration of Joes that work so well.
 
I got Dial Tone yesterday and then unexpectedly Heavy Duty showed up today. But if there's one collection I can't possibly squeeze in another character, it's Classified. It would be bad enough with a character taking up a normal sized footprint but Heavy Duty with all his artillery is definitely a no-go. Finding a new home for the Classified collection may be on the agenda for this weekend.

YEP! That’s why I love it.
And in my head it’s the mask his part of the family “traditionally” wore, like it’s literally an ancient gothic mask handed down through the centuries, like Destro’s own mask. And the “classic” mask is something modern, made by MARS.

. . . and yeah it looks like maybe he’s not fully human, or not fully human ANYMORE, under that mask.

Goals. I would love to have the time/energy to start taking writing seriously, then write something that gets a huge option from Hollywood, then retire to my 6 bedroom house where 3 bedrooms are toy rooms.

Both of mine go to at least 100 degtees from his sides without rotating, for what its worth
 
Am I going crazy or have we not had a proper comms officer yet? Dial Tone feels like his fills a very specific need amongst the existing figures in the line, the way Doc did when we finally got him. Of course now I want all the comms guys and medics.

I joke that when the books first came out I wanted a movie deal to be famous, met a bunch of authors who had movie deals who still needed day jobs (I actually bought dinner for a guy who is one of King's favorite horror authors and has had at least two books turned into movies but still teaches high school math because he needs the steady work), and have rapidly downgraded my dreams of fortune from "fame," to "donate to a no-kill shelter and save senior abandoned cats and dogs, to "be able to afford to retire before I'm dead" and now it's just "upgrade the house so I can have another room for my action figure collection and half-bath"

I've had a few bites but nothing worthwhile. I need a new agent.
 
Next thing you know, we'll have a Social Media Operator for the Joes. Named...Livestream? Didn't they have something silly like that in a recent comic?

This is fair... and makes me appreciate it more.

So as I'm customizing my second Darklon into something else... mostly repaint, swap the shoulder pad to the other side, removed the bootop bandolier, weapons swap...
I'm trying to think of a unique name for him... wanted something that fit the metal mask with the tongue out... Metalhead - an obvious one - is already taken. Then I thought Death Metal would be good, but had an itchy feeling about that and sure enough... Death Metal has been used too - for a kick ass Dreadnok character I would love a figure of BTW. So now I'm trying to come up with something that works... I guess Doom Metal and Black Metal are still available... Iron Mask is available with a classic Dumas call back, a possible Destro link (apparently he's descended from the character Dumas based his book on in the lore) while also tying thematically to the Iron Grenadiers...

nomenclature is important in these things... just ask Big Lob
