G.I. Joe Classified Series

Yup. Most of my mods on figures are so I will enjoy playing with them more; so yes, durability is a goal, but durability for actual PLAY.

I think we all struggle with this on some level; that fight between wanting to preserve these things we love and recognizing that we really CAN'T preserve them -and- enjoy them. It's one or the other (if the former is an option at all - sometimes it isn't). The worst feeling is when a toy fails on you and that toy is a hingepoint for that collection. If my Black Series Luke Skywalker falls apart or turns yellow - I have to decide to either replace him, or get rid of the rest of the figures I only own as part of an ANH display, because having him is, to me, essential to that display.

I've transitioned a lot in recent years to less 'toy museum' and more 'stuff I want to play with.' That is, treating my toys like toys. Because they are.
Yeah. I'm trying to find a zen space in the middle of "nice enough that I can pull theme down and enjoy them without them falling apart in my hands" rather than museum quality. I like to have a few little displays in my office and then rotate a bunch out to fiddle with on my desk while I work and take fun pics of. If they can not fall apart so I can set up fun photos that's all I really want.

I know I'm a little neurotic about it all though because of my collecting pattern: lost EVERYTHING in a house fire at 23 from my childhood, broke-ass writer from 23 to 35 or so, finally had the space and a bit of expendable income around 40 to start collecting (and a partner who didn't judge), and only in the last year has the collection gotten big enough it freaks me out a bit. Not "I have too much" but "it all makes me REALLY happy but I want to take care of it and enjoy it with whatever time I have left on this hellhole of a rock." I joke that I want to sell my book series for a film adaptation not to get rich but just to have enough money to have a proper toy room with enough shelf-space so stuff doesn't need to live in boxes.

I got Darklon, and Frag Viper from Amazon yesterday. Both are really nice figures. Frag Viper really takes it for me. He's super posable, and looks great with his weird Jai Alai thrower even when it's just at his side.

Darklon is really nice as well. He's pretty dang big, and I love that they gave him the ARAH gun. I may replace it with something a little more realistic though, like a KS-12, or something similar.

I’ve currently got Darklon wielding his broadsword and dagger and wearing the skull helmet, locked in battle with D&D monsters and the Power Rangers Minotaur. He’s an awesome bridge between “military fantasy” and just plain fantasy. So good.

I've got a Hasbro package arriving today and I think it's finally Dial Tone and it is so goddamned hot today if this poor bastard is melted into the plastic in his box I will weep.

It took me until people had him in had to realize that was a tongue sticking out on that mask, and not a Van Dyke beard thing. I'm leaving his traditional mask on for now.

I need to do a HUGE rearrange of my Joes in my office. I have almost two dozen I don't have displayed, and keep getting more.

Y'know, I've had the shelf over my workspace all Marvel Legends for like... so long I can't even remember. Maybe it's time to swap over to Classified. I could get a solid 50 characters along the top shelf there.

It feels like it. No word on a live stream this week, right? I mean they gave us great stuff that first week so I'm not really complaining, but it feels a bit like You Joe Juuuuuuust kidding!

That's pretty much what I'm doing. I've had MCU in my office for so long now. I used to have a shelf of Mitch matched Star Wars scales, but that was cleared for Joes. Now I'm thinking my two MCU shelves will become Joes, and MCU will go to one shelf. 86 Transformers need a bit more room too...but that'll wait.

@docsilence Right, it was a solid month just from the first two weeks. but it seemed like they had weekly plans that have fallen apart. Did they have ICE agent figure reveals or something?

I envy the hell out of your office. I have shelves on the wall behind my computer in my 'home office', but if I could spread out at my actual jobby job, that would... well, that would probably be such a massive game changer that I'd get out of hand again.
